Guy, I really like what you have done. And since I also use On1 I can duplicate those adjustments. Thanks so much! |

Guy, thanks for sharing this image and informing me that there is such a place. If I make it back to England again I would love to visit this museum.
To my eye the shapes of the buildings and the placement to the "Titantic" sign are very pleasing and make me want to spend time just adsorbing the detail. From my experience I am pleased that you did not bump the contrast of the sky as so many would do as it would distract from the building. I believe that one small improvement would be to clone out the tree that appears in the 'C' cutout.
Thanks for sharing and Happy Holidays! |

This type of opportunity doesn't come along that often so it is great that you took full advantage of it. To my eye the chin IS NOT out of focus. Logically it shouldn't be as the tip of the nose and the microphone extend out further and appear to be in focus. You might have tried a higher f/stop though to get the fingers in focus.
It is really great that you got some good practice in a new area of photography, you got some pictures that are ap[preciated by the "customer" and you had a good time.
Can't ask for more than that!
Happy Holidays. |

Erik, you have motivated me! I am hoping that perhaps I can be at the festival the next time it goes to Albuquerque! What a sight!
To me you are telling a story not only of the festival but, I assume, of your own flight. The number of balloons in the sky keep the viewer's eyes "feasting" on the the color and shapes of the airborne balloons. The color and the sharpness seem, to my eye, spot on.
I felt the all of the vehicles on the bottom right were a bit distracting for me. So in the VF I have removed them and duplicated a few balloon to fill the space. Just for fun!
Nice Job. Happy Holidays. We will shoot together, hopefully, in January. |

Vella, I believe that there are very positive aspects to both your original and your final images. The question that I have for you is "What story are you trying to tell?"
From the original, to me, the story seems to be about beautiful row of house - all white, all connected but all different. To my eye the post work that you did on those homes adds contrast and depth and quality to the image.
From my experience I would say that separately, I also like what you did with the sky contrast. But here I feel that those enhancements draw the viewers' eyes and the story away from the building as it now has to compete with the sky. I am left wondering what the original sky - or maybe one slightly enhanced - would look like with the "final" version of the homes.
Happy Holidays! |

Isaac, to my eye this is excellent composition. It uses the axiom that odd numbers attract and please the eye more than even numbers. On close examination I feel that you have also done an exceptional job in capture and/or post as the contrast accentuates the details on the birds and there is very little to no (hard to tell from a 1M shot) blown-out areas in the whites of the birds. I also believe that the DoF is well done and as a result the grasses and rocks behind the birds are no distraction.
Wishing you and your family a safe and happy holiday season. I am looking forward to more birding trips with you in the new year. All the best! |
