Bill, I won't be redundant. I would just add that for my taste I would lighten the shadows in the "stuff" on the lower right of the image to bring a little more balance to the overall composition.
From my experience the polarizing effect at the higher altitude of the Rockies is much greater than we are used to in the east. From the top of Rocky Mountain National Park you can get a fully saturated sky with no filter on a clear day. |

To my eye this image is extremely sharp, pick up all the detail on both gators. The color balance appears to me to be correct. Together with the two originals the image tell an interesting story. |

I truly love the composition and the colors of this image. I've read that one aspect of an image that catches and holds a viewer's eyes is the momentarily indecision as to what they are looking at. I feel this image does just that. For me, it makes me stop and think. To me even after deciding, it makes me ruminate on what it took for the artist to think up and then execute this paint job.
For me this would be a great piece to have on the wall of an "art-deco" styled home. I think Isaac's cloning improved the image although I would suggest trying your closing of straight line that are in sharp focus at about 70% hardness. (That's just me.) Nice work and thanks for sharing. |

Erik, I think this is a great action shot - very different from the actions one can normally capture. To my eye the image is very sharp and the colors realistic. For me the Roseate Spoonbill's reflection always adds to the image. I believe that the capture the partial reflection was all that was needed and adds to the composition.
From my experience there seems to be a bit too much unfilled space at the left. In the VF I have cropped to an 11 x 14 size. I tried to make sure that the "axis" of the left bird went through the 2/3rd's points. I also brightened the back side if the right bird a small bit so that the viewer can see the entire outline of the bird.
Where did you capture this particular shot? |
