4 Mar 22 Comment Thanks Guy. I thought you would like this one. Mar 17th
4 Mar 22 Reply I did that as well in post work. But then decided that I wanted only a "near-center" line vertical for the effect I was looking for. Thanks for continuing to play with it and share thoughts. Mar 7th
4 Mar 22 Reply Great call on the sharpening Bill. Here it is after a pass through Topaz AI Clear. Thanks. Mar 7th
4 Mar 22 Comment Very artistic Ian - and somewhat scary looking! But I'm guessing that is what you were going for. To my eye the contrast between the "skull" and the surrounding webs is well done. But, I believe what makes the image is the deep red tone in the eye sockets with some granularity to it. From my experience this would do very well in a "Creative" exhibition. Mar 7th
4 Mar 22 Reply Thanks Bill. When I get a chance I will get out my magnifying glass and look at it again. I have used Topaz AI Clear quite a bit and often trade it off with On1 High Pass Filter Sharpening. Any thoughts on one versus the other for this particular image? Mar 6th
4 Mar 22 Comment Bill, I think you are very creative. As Erik said, this is as good as the "big boy camera." What captures my eye is the combination of the sharp image of the flowers with the artistic edging applied. You have inspired me to look into this form of aretistry again. I have never gotten an edge effect as good as this one. For composition, from my experience the diagonal line works well. BTW, I also really appreciated reading your comments to others! Mar 6th
4 Mar 22 Comment Vella, to me this is a great action shot. I really like the movement that catches the bird's feet splashing while coming out of the water. The head of the heron, the captured fish and the wings, to my eye , are incredibly sharp. Just wondering if you could have coaxed a bit more detail - via sharpness - out of the neck. Nice shot! 4 Mar 22 Comment Erik, this is an outstanding image! One that I would enlarge and frame if it were mine. Personally I would rate this a 9 out of 9! It has high impact. It shows good composition in how you decided to stand relative to the foreground rocks backdropped by the "mittens." And it has excellent technical attributes. Most good images have three good layers. To my eye this one has four good layers.

For me, I always look to try to find something that might improve the image. The only thing I could come up with was slightly brightening the shadows on the mittens. But after looking at that version I liked yours better.

Exceptional in my opinion!

4 Mar 22 Comment Isaac, this is a wonderful image and it brings back memories of touring Intrepid's sister ship, the Midway, in San Diego harbor. It evokes memories and stories of what these people went through and also of the technology they gave us.

To my eye the composition is well done with the rear tie line leading the viewer's eyes to the center of the image and the name of the vessel. I feel that the dramatic sky on each side provides an interesting yet not distracting background.

The only possible suggestion is that, from my experience, you may want a bit more tonal contrast between the stern of the carrier and the warehouse. In the VF I have slightly lightened everything in the "aft" except the anchor, the tie line and the name.

Great shot!
