4 Jun 21 Reply Actually, before entering it in the PSA international exhibition I did end up bringing the exposure down one full stop. Good call! Jun 25th
4 Jun 21 Reply Thanks so much for the compliment Erik. Perhaps in the future I can learn more from you in this field of cathedral imaging. I will give you a call as we get a bit closer to pick up tips on the October trip as well. Take care. The catholic diocese of, I believe, Western New York, will issue a first edition of a new publication in July and this image will be the cover page (as I am told.) Jun 17th
4 Jun 21 Comment Ian, I always like to think through my response before looking at what others have said (so that I am not influenced).

I love the way the colors grab and hold my eye as soon as I opened the image. I think that you have done an excellent job in capture with the exposure and the DoF To me, the building in the left background gives the wall some size perspective.

The tilted walls did bother me as well. From my experience the window on the right (which Guy cloned out) and the light post on the left are distractions from what I think you really want us to look at. To that end, in the VF I used vertical guides in LR to straighten. The resulting cropping removed both right and left distractions.

So my VF will look alot like Guy's feedback. Thanks for sharing.

4 Jun 21 Reply Isaac, thanks for the medical lesson! Guy is right, it is amazing what you can learn in these interactions. Jun 13th
4 Jun 21 Comment Guy, this is a very interesting and, to me, a very soothing image. To my eye the complementary blues and yellows work well together. I have never thought of pulling the clarity slider into the negative range to get a smooth appearance. So thanks for teaching me a new trick. I think you should market this to physicians' offices. It would provide a calming effect in many a waiting room. Jun 13th
4 Jun 21 Comment Erik, this was definitely worth the wait. Your patience paid off. Thanks for the details on the capture process. To my eye you chose the f/stop well - achieving good detail through the bear's face and fur with the soft grassy background. The color seems to me to be spot on.

To me opening up the shadows slightly to further enhance the bear's beautiful fur might bring a bit more depth to the image. I have tried this in the VF.

We are making a trip through this area in October and you have really whet my appetite for this adventure. Thanks!

4 Jun 21 Comment Vella, for me this is an excellent composition. I also believe that the post process concept of going more blue improved the picture.

To my eye there may be a bit too much blue in the final and I think that perhaps that bright blue reflected sky in the center window may be unfairly drawing attention away from the beautiful lower doors. These, in my opinion should be the fixation point. To that end in the VF I replaced the stone transom and the reflected sky panes in the center window with a duplicate of the right window transom and blinds. Just "food for thought." Let me know what you think.

4 Jun 21 Comment I love the detail that you were able to capture in the petals. From my experience I know little about flower photography but it seems too me that you have gotten an outstanding result with a very simple approach. Jun 9th
4 Jun 21 Comment For me these three images conjure a story of an exciting event. Never having traveled in this part of China I find these unique and beautifully portrayed. From my experience I believe that you have well captured the obvious - Composition and Lighting - superbly. Beyond that though, in my opinion you have captured nicely two other qualities that make this an outstanding image. First the action captured both in the sharp detail of the ball and mallets, but also in the spray of dirt from the hooves. Secondly I like the expression on the face of the rider on the right.

To my eye the only minor improvement is to hold the viewer's eye in the frame on the right. To that end I turned around the solitary man on the back right. A very trivial adjustment to an outstanding image.

Thanks for sharing!

88 Jun 21 Comment Charles, a nice tack sharp image. You could have fooled me with the flag if you hadn't noted the addition. To my eye you have done an excellent job with the colors of the sky and the sea.

Also it looks like the reformed group is once again getting some outstanding images. Glad to see DD88 doing this kind of work. Take care and feel free to visit me in DD4

88 Jun 21 Comment Trey, I really like this one. To my eye you have done very nice work with the colors in capture and post work. I believe that the foreground adds a subtle but important dimension to the image. To me, the progression of colors leads and holds the viewer's eye right in the heart of the image. I believe I would frame this and put it on my wall if it were mine! Thanks for sharing. Jun 7th
