Great Image. To my eye the wing spread on the male makes the picture. |

I have the benefit of pondering Stuart's excellent comments above as I study this image. To me his expert opinion is "Spot On".
Now studying the image as he suggested, I feel that the varied textures can add much to the intrigue of this image. The composition, in my opinion, is excellent in it's simplicity. I believe that the tonal range is well done in that it doesn't force emphasis of one feature over another - letting the viewer's eye land equally on each.
If this image were mine, from my experience, I might try a bit more emphasis on the texture of the foundation rocks by lightening some of those on the right bottom of the image. Knowing your expertise in this area I would be very interested to see your feedback on this idea.
Thanks for sharing! |

Rajani, to my eye this is very good composition - both left to right and top to bottom. I feel that you have created three good - and balanced - fixation points for the viewer's eye in the mountain, the sunburst and the blowing cottonflower patches. I think you have captured the overall contrast and color well.
In finishing the image, in my opinion, you might consider a bit more contrast (not much) to the cloud in the sky.
Good image! |

Charles, to my eye you have done an excellent job with the color, depth of field and sharpness of this image. I feel that the way you have composed this, you are leading my mesa peaks in the right center foreground. If that is what you intended then I believe that you have accomplished your mission with this image.
From my experience this leaves me a bit confused as I don't remember those mesa peaks being the salient part of the Amphitheater. Perhaps its just me, or perhaps the title but I'm left a but confused between the image and the title.
Please feel free to correct me as it have been 3 years since I was there. |

To my eye you have done a very good job with the leading lines in this image. Surprisingly, studies have shown that the "westerners" eye prefers an image where the eye is led from left to right in the image - just what you have done. In my opinion the depth of field and the exposure were well done in capture. I believe that the post-processing work has enhanced the colors, making it a richer image. Per Trey's comment, I feel that you could crop it just inside the tree on the right, leaving the vertical dimension as it is.
Good Job. |

For me this is one of those "exciting shots" that you get once in a lifetime - the wildlife superimposed on the hill. To my eye the positioning to the "cat" after post-processing helps to draw the viewer's eye their and hold it. I feel you have achieved great top to bottom balance with the mountain in the background.
In my opinion the balance could be improved slightly if the mountain stood out more. In the VF I added a bit more sharpening to the snow cap. I then changed the "RGB" channel from a straight line to a more traditional photographic 'S' curve. Let em know what you think. |

Trey, I love this picture! If I had this I would matte and frame it and put it up in my home. I believe that they image shows that you have a clever eye for a unique architectural shot - keep working at it! To me the variety of shapes and colors, along with the crisp focus, add to the quality of the image.
To my eye, and more accurately to my taste, the only improvement could be vertical alignment. I have done that in the visual feedback. Tell me what you think.
Way to go!! |
