Interesting comment Charles. I don't think so however. Two weeks ago I spent 25 hours over 2.5 days working hard to capture the architecture of Chicago. Can't wait to share some of the images I got!! |

Lou, to my eye the Sharpness, Depth of Field and Contrast are very well done in the image. I feel you have created a good balance between the wall in the foreground and the beautiful blue sea and sky in the background. For me the background serves a good purpose but does not draw the viewer's eye from the wall in the foreground which, in my opinion is the intended fixation point.
I seems to me that the image is out of balance left to right which for me detracts from the image a bit. In the VF I have lightened the rocks in the lower right and the lower wall at the cliff edge to give more balance to the right side. |

To me the balance of color that you have achieved with the presets brings good harmony to this image. I feel that the buildings and the line of boats both contribute to good visual distribution of the key elements. This brings my eye into the fixation point in the lower center and holds my eye there. From my experience you have done a great job with the shading - bringing a nice balance to the highlights and shadows.
It appears to me that the partial white and orange curtain in the upper left may be a small distraction. You may want to think about making it all one color.
Good job! |

Scott, I believe that you have created great depth of field that captures the eye with a strong foreground, mid-ground and background. For me the reds on the rocks harmonize well with the greens and blue-grays of the foreground. I feel that the Cathedral Rock creates a fixation point that draws and hold the viewer's eye.
In my opinion the tree at the left has no connection with anything else in the image and may create a distraction for the viewer. IN the VF I quickly cloned a portion of the sky on the right over to the left and then cropped. To me this puts even more focus on the rocks without giving up anything in the image. I believe that the patches of sky may be overly saturated and could be dialed back slightly for correct color as you finish the image.
Cathedral rock is my favorite place in Sedona. Thanks for sharing. |

To my eye the balance of color in this image is very pleasing to the eye. I also feel that this dramatic landscape creates meaning and evokes thought - that will hold the viewer's interest. I believe that the visual distribution with slightly more sky than reflection gives good balance to the image.
From my experience the shadows are you deep and result in a mid-ground that is less interesting to my eye. In the VF I created a duplicate and lightened it 2 stops and then combined - quickly - to yield a mid-ground with detail. I believe that this will enhance the overall presentation of the image. |

To my eye this is an excellent image with tonal contrast in the right areas to draw and hold the eye. I feel that the dynamic contrast brings out much detail that is not obvious in the original and adds to the quality of the image. I believe that the color contrast using mostly warm tones is pleasing to the eye.
From my experience I believe Trey has a good suggestion for reducing the brightness of the lights and giving them a yellow hue. Coincidentally, Jon Fishbeck - PSA's head of Training - recently suggested that I do the same thing on an image I submitted to him for analysis.
Good Job! |

Interesting suggestion on the crop at the right and the different format. I'll try it and see how it looks! Thanks |

Lou, thanks for your comment. Seeing it reminded me that we are not supposed to have Watermarks on the images we upload so I fixed it. I'll look forward to seeing your picture. |
