Many thanks, Melanie, for your comments.
Actually, the red is as close as I could get in IR to the actual color.

First reaction: A well-executed, classic mono IR image. Upon reflection, I might have preferred a closer crop to better show off the light house. |

I have attempted more than once to capture crocs. You are to be congratulated! |

Craig, I like what you did with this image. Palli noted the red spill but, surely, this could be easily corrected. |

PS to the above:
I only worked on a small area of the sky (top right) to see what, if anything, could be done. We have just been presented with another great grand-child, the third in less than two months, so time is at a premium and to go over the whole shot would take too long at this point.

Gary- You are quite right. Interestingly enough when I looked at the file in LR before exporting a small jpg version, the artifacts were not all that noticeable. And I shoot only RAW.
Palli - Thanks for working on this but I feel that the B&W version looses something. The orange coloring of the environmental statue was very close to the original and, I felt/feel, is what makes the shot.
Craig - Yes, a Nikon J3 mirrorless. It is my understanding that the WB issues with Nikon cameras are when placing an IR filter on the lens of a non-converted camera but not a factor with an IR-converted camera. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Meanwhile, I have played around with the image (specifically dehaze in LR and some spot removals). Tell me what you think.
Second meanwhile: The a/m camera does not have a viewfinder which makes composing IR images (typically taken in bright light) rather difficult. In consultation with Life Pixel, I have purchased a fixed lens Fujifilm model, which should be sent out tomorrow by B&H for conversion. |
