Perhaps I over sharpened it but you get the idea. |

Not much to ad to previous comments. I took the image inti Topaz Sharpen AI. Used maximum sharpening repeated then masked toe original sharp areas. |

I prefer your version to Pete's mono. I think you have done an excellent job with the post processing. I am not sure I would darken the roof and if I did it would be by only a small amount as currently we are drawn to the barn which is the focal point and it could be lost in the background. |

A beautiful image Mark. I agree with Pete that the heron is running toward the light. The colours are fantastic. |

At my camera club this week a distinguished member was critiquing other members mono images. His first comment for each image was "would colour add to this image or would it introduce distractions". I ask myself this question of your image. My answer is that colour would not add anything and could distract the viewer. After agreeing that mono was best I would ask why you have waited 12 years to show what is a superb image which tells a great story. |

Grab shots like this are often the best. the children seem really pleased to have their photo taken. In the image below I have selected the boys and brightened them. Then I have darkened the background slightly. I then cloned out the bit behind the boys head, Finally I have cropped a little. |
