You have some great patterns and textures but the heron just adds that little extra which makes the image. Well done! Usually I don't like halos but in this case I don't mind. |

You do get some excellent bird shots Sophia. I love the 3 young birds and their mother. To improve it I would crop from the left as this to me is dead space. Using your image I then used "Object Select" to select the mother I then inverted this selection so that I could clone without touching the mother I then carefully cloned going over some bits twice if I wasn't satisfied. Finally I used the crop tool using content aware to extend the image on the right. |

We do find pictures of hand interesting (see my image in April this year) and yours is no exception. I have tried various crops with your image and tend to prefer the crop you have done with his hands. To me the main part of the picture is the knife, wood and his thumb particularly the old cut on his thumb. However I would crop from the left to remove much of his shirt. I find the blue just above his thumb to be a distraction and I would darken or clone it out. I like your colour version of the image and I think it would also be good in mono. |

You certainly did capture the moment. Both balloons are well placed in the image and their difference in size gives depth to the picture. I agree with Mark regarding the grey in the left hand balloon. Another way of getting rid of it is to create a new layer set with "Darker Colour" then clone the basket from the other balloon. On this layer also clone from the panels higher panels to the lower ones. I have done this on your original. |

Thanks for your comments Mark. I have now removed the artefact and blurred the riders in the background. They are turning a corner and the white lines are a fence which I have now cloned out. When I do a lot of work on an image I often miss obvious things and that is why a second opinion is always valuable. |

This is a stunning image Barbara. I think you have done a good job bringing out the textures and your crop is good. Adding the catchlight certainly adds to the image. I am not sure if I prefer the flipped version, I keep changing my mind. I am not a great fan of a completely black background I prefer a little detail although you have a lot of highlights which may be difficult to remove. |

A great picture Mark -a winner. To me it does suggest black and white. When I fist looked at it I thought there was nothing I could do to improve it. Perhaps there isn't but I feel I am failing if I can't suggest something. You might consider the following.
1) Crop from the left to make the leading line of the fence come from the bottom corner.
2) Take even more brightness out of the lighthouse.
3) Slightly burn the top of the sky |
