Hi Jim
Thanks for your modifications. One of the things I have learnt in photography is that there are always exceptions to "The Rules". In this case in my opinion you have introduced dead space on the right hand side. If I were to introduce more space then I would put it onto the left hand side to give the bird more space to look into. The first 3 comments mention "the birds eye". In the image below I have added a bit to the LHS and taken a bit from the RHS. The eye is now exactly on the horizontal third. Further comments as always are welcome. |

Don't we all love to see and photograph a mother with her ducklings. I am undecided whether I prefer the colour or mono version although I do prefer Pete's version perhaps cropped at the top slightly. |

This is a well seen image. We have the manmade dark iron valves with the curves and circles. We also have the light grasses with their straight but random lines. What a contrast. The two are competing but sadly the valves are rusting and the grasses are dead/dying. Which will win? Will they be competing in 100 years time. I prefer the colour version. |

What a great image Sophia and how lucky you are to get this from home. I have tried cropping but think the original is best. |

A good peaceful image which tells a story. Other members of the group have done a lot of work on these so rather than redo them I will talk about the various versions. I like what Mark has done with the clarity and texture although I would not crop it. Of the mono versions I prefer Pete's as I think your version is too harsh. I like what Jim has done with transforming the window. If it was mine I would go with the colour version like Mark has done but without cropping and making the transformation that Jim suggests. |

What a beautiful image Mark. It deserves to be printed and hung on your wall. Your processing is excellent and draws us to the centre of the image with beautiful subtle colours. You could consider cropping a small amount off the sky. |

I like candid photos like this. You have caught his expression well and the angle of his head is perfect. Looking closer and longer I do notice the burnt out part of his nose as has been mentioned previously. On the image below I used Content Aware Fill to remove this. I also whitened his eyes a little and used Content Aware Fill to improve his chest. I like mono portraits so converted to mono. I might consider cropping the bottom slightly. What do you think? |
