50 Apr 20 Reply Its a place called Gisburn in Lancashire, England.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gisburn

Gisburn is about 4 miles from where my mother lives and I took this image when I visited her (she is aged 98 years). During the summer, but not this year, steam trains run special excursion every few weeks. Otherwise the line is only used for freight. The railway station is long gone.

50 Apr 20 Comment I like the composition. Looking at the image we initially see the fisherman and then our eyes are taken up the river through the image. I agree with Cindy that the fisherman is too dark. However, in making her changes I think she has over lightened the trees and grass. I have used both of your images and applied a mask to get the best of both. I have then applied a vignette. Apr 16th
50 Apr 20 Comment A very dramatic image that should do well in competitions. The squall does add to the picture. You might consider cropping from the top. If you take the image into Photoshop and add a guideline to the horizon you will see it curves slightly and is higher in the centre. You may have noticed this and are happy with it, otherwise you could use Puppet Warp to straighten it. Apr 16th
50 Apr 20 Comment I too prefer the colour version and agree that the image is rather soft. I would prefer the duck to be a little to the left rather than in the centre of the image. Apr 16th
50 Apr 20 Comment I agree with previous comments that you have done an excellent job with the water. I wouldn't change anything in either the colour or mono versions but overall I prefer the colour version. Apr 16th
50 Apr 20 Comment I prefer the mono version. I hadn't noticed the sky that Cindy mentioned until I read her comments. Once I saw it, like her my eye is drawn to it. I am not keen on her amendment; too me it doesn't look right. I have tried various things but don't know how to improve it. Apr 16th
50 Apr 20 Comment I agree with the comments about the child's face. You caught it at exactly the right time and I think the image could do well in competitions. I agree with the cropping and I might even crop further. I would darken the hut and, as Cindy suggests, add a vignette. Apr 13th
