I agree, a gorgeous spot to shoot from, nicely done.
I would clone out the garbage can on the right and a couple of those bright buildings in the town, just the couple of white ones that draw my eye. I think you could clone out the rock on the far left that goes out of the frame, or crop as Mike suggests. I thought a little less sky too, but I would keep those cool clouds.
Those purple flowers that swoop along the golden sand are just fabulous. love this. |

It's a striking shot, and now I know why I got the email about landscapes, cityscapes and seascapes :-) !!!!!!
I didn't realize it was a hummingbird until I read you story as the bird looks so powerful and strong in this shot. You did a beautiful job on it. |

How cool to get snow at this place. You captured a lovely pink cloud too. Ideas: Even thought the hill on the right is longer, the lighter colored rocks on the left draw my eye. I see many competing focal points, the jagged hills, the path, the people, the hill on the left and that tender pink cloud in the sky. Maybe cropping in a bit on the left would give more dominance to the right side of the photo. Just crop out the dirt or gravel part to the left of the rocks, and into the rock a bit. And then maybe a bit off the right side too to direct me more down that pathway. That moves my eyes easily down the path and up to that beautiful delicate sky. I wouldn't mind a bit of saturation either, though the cloud seems perfect already. nice. |

I'll enjoy seeing this series too.
What to do? There is something about the balance here that seems too even to me. The horizon is very centered, and the house and distant tower are both the same distance from the edges. I kinda think I like the tower myself, contrary to popular opinion. I wondered about making this a vertical or a square shot. I thought, gee if photoshop-ing, maybe make the tower a bit bigger?? I like the counterpoint of the building with tower, just not everything so very even. Maybe the tower moves to the left? And maybe darken the bottom a little so my eye doesn't flow off from the brightly lit ground in front of the cabin. |

Fun image. I think you could straighten the flagpole a bit.
I also would suggest doing an exposure stacking with your camera tripoded up, like you had it of course, and underexposing the tree to get the light pole a bit less intense. A ton of my friends do HDR exposure on every photo they take. I tried once at Moab but couldn't edit it worth beans, so I'm suggesting something I never do myself!!!
But, i think it would be useful here. Nice for the Fourth of July too. |

thanks for telling us the story of this place a bit.
I like the idea of a bit more grass and a bit less sky.
I think you need the light hill behind the tree to silhouette it. I think the hills on the left should be as light as behind the tree as they are on the same plane. That way the butte stands out as darker (closer) and gives you layers--grass, tree, butte, back hills, and sky. I think a monotone would be great with this image too. |
