I loved your photo last month at Ruby Beach. My shot of the Milky Way last September were not nearly as gorgeous as yours. Another Sony ad! I'll go again and try it with my mirrorless since I got one in December. |

John, this is a stunning shot! Just gorgeous lighting and great subject. I like the clarity of the waves, the pier and also the surfer. The colors are great. You already corrected for any overexposure. I only wondered if the surfer should have been moved out of the center of the shot, but I don't know if that would be better at all.
Was this shot from a drone also? It looks like you shot from the shoreline.
Love this photo, great job on it. |

Mike, you are up in my country! Washington state. i was out shooting eagles June 7th but they were too far away to catch any closeups. Although when they flew over my head twice my lens wasn't up to catching them as I had it set on a crop factor 900mm. So kudos for getting him as he flew so close to you! It is a dramatic shot, and its always best to get them flying towards you. In our camera club they take off points for "butt shots." It's too bad his head is not quite in focus, but amazing capture at the speed he was flying at.
You didn't say what your shutter speed was. I was shooting around 1000 to 1200 per second. Not quite in focus but I can see the details in his left eye nonetheless, super. |

Lucky you to be here in the Himalayan mountains! Did you go on to climb it? I really like that this is so exotic for me. I love the lit up path through the rolling foothills that lead me to the mountains with snow. It's hard to say, "next time try. . ." when you are shooting in southern Asia. I usually shoot at a lower ISO when shooting at night, but shooting for longer than 6 seconds to get less noise, though this isn't bad, noise-wise.
The mountains look a bit "cut out" against the night sky. But I don't know how to make that better. You might heal the light speck on the right side of the foreground. It's a cool shot and I'm delighted to get to see it. |

Makes a good ad for your Sony! Super sharp all the way through foreground to background.
I like the variety of the textures of grass, although the light long grass at the top do draw me out of the focal point, if that is the old barn. Wonderful textures. I bet this would be great in black and white also. It might be nice to have the barn a bit off center. Do you have some with more of the surrounding field?

Hi Nancie, this is a view I didn't get to on my recent visit to the Grand Canyon South Rim in april. I was so tired after shooting a long wedding, and the altitude is KILLER at first. I wish I had gotten to see this with the river. It makes a nice color contrast with the red rocks. I'm not sure why you say you lowered the contrast on this and last month's image. Had it been shot on vivid? Or changed by using dehaze which definitely affects the colors? I think I'd like the left side bottom to be burned in a bit so it doesn't pull my focus away from following the river. And possibly cropping in a bit on the left side to be clear about what I want my viewer to look at. The horizon appears uneven but probably is not. The images I shot looked flat on the top of the mesas. These have varying heights and angles, which is interesting to the eye. Makes me want to go back and go to more spots than I did. Lovely viewpoint and shot.
