Judi's lights were not expensive, and not large either. But, the best investment they say are your lenses. |

Thanks Theresa, I haven't looked at this image since I posted it here. Now, I'm thinking, Wow! it sure looks good. I'm still experimenting with this new mirrorless camera. It will take a long time to know the things I need to know about using it. I'm afraid printing it the rock on the left will go all black. |

Thanks, it looks great. This was shot on auto I think, and a pretty steep learning curve with this new camera. |

John, I too have the Nikon Z7. I am glad I get to see your shots with it. I see amazing detail in this shot, which makes me very happy since I have the same lens!!!! and camera!!!
I would get rid of that sign also, and I wonder if darkening the brick buildings on the right side would keep me going down the street better.
I have never been to Charlestown so I don't know what I would shoot. I love trees and plants and landscapes. And what about the water scenes there? Thanks for showing us a new place. |

In your face, for sure! I would like to see the top darkened a bit to bring my attention to the middle or front of the image. super details in the rock.
I'm going to ask YOUR FAVORITE QUESTION, Mike.
What is your subject?
the rock, the spray, the river? Can you focus us on that even better? |

Amazing what our phones can do. I usually forget to pull mine out when shooting with my big cameras, and then am envious when I see the shots others posted who were with me.
I thought, wow, you captured a brochure shot for this ski area. I do like Nancie's edit too. Less attention on the left that draws my eyes away from all those cool lines leading us back into the photo from the ski runs.
Nice job. |

Hi Gordon, welcome to our group. How fun to be shooting in Chile, cool. I also love night shooting. It does look like that could be part of the Milky Way on the right side, but not bright enough to focus on, I only saw it because Marla spotted it first. I see three subjects in this shot, the foreground, the geyser, and the stars. I think I would crop off maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of the foreground so as to not give it equal attention with the geyser or the stars. It looks like your shadow and another person in the front part of the foreground. I would try to go into camera raw in photoshop and adjust the blue in the sky if I could. I know the night sky looks greenish or brownish, but it is nicer looking bluish. I have had some luck with that in SOME night shots I took.

Wow, Theresa, I love this shot and it makes me want to go back to Ruby beach with a full moon! We went last fall, planning to shoot with NO moon in order to get the Milky Way.I like your original edit as the trees on the left serve as steps leading me into the image. I feel like Gordon's crop puts the moon MORE in the middle of the image, not less.
I wouldn't change anything!!!!!!!!
You asked about the lights we used in Moab, my friend used LED small panel with batteries. Check B & H I guess. |

Nancie, what a gorgeous day you had to shoot this with those gorgeous clouds too. I think some sky cutting off is good, but not cutting into any of the clouds, for me.
I would maybe chop off on the right side of the photo, possibly making it a vertical or square.
I wonder if you tried to add some space to the bottom and used "content aware" fill to see if it would make more of the road for you after cropping on the right side.
I love the brightness of the colors and don't mind the blue sky at all. Or, maybe you had a shot with more of the trees on the left side showing? very nice. |
