Beautiful image, it works so well in monotone. I love your creamy water that still shows detail.
It keeps my interest. Lots to look at. I know judges didn't like square but isn't that changing? |

I have a similar viewpoint under an I-90 bridge in Seattle, Washington, shot at night. Since its nightime there are beautiful lights reflecting on the water. But a daytime shot works great for monotone, doesn't it?
Amazing to catch the plane zipping by. |

Gorgeous shot, great job here, John. When I shoot in Camera Raw, Photoshop, I can go to the lens icon at the top and check the box for lens adjustments. It will recognize your lens and make corrections for it. But this is stitched together, so I don't know.
I do know that I don't have a problem with the curve, the picture is so sharp and great details. Lovely lighting, just very well done, bravo. |

I agree, this is a super strong image, and I love the colors also. At first I wondered if it was duplicated to be a mirror image but saw that it was natural. And a unique view of this location. Gorgeous red rocks.
I get those streaks when I sharpen an image. One way to get rid of them might be to select the sky, this image is simple so that might not be too hard. Then Edit-Fill-Color and pick a light blue. I haven't try to do that so don't know. And your sky has a nice gradient to it. Humm, we need outside advice.

Wow, that is the "wettest" water ever!! I have never been here, and lucky you to get the smokey air to abate by using the dehaze filter. It does make blues more intense, so I sometimes go into Hue/Saturation to adjust for that. It is mesmerizing, so striking and so very watery. I like how Mike described everything, very poetic. |

I like how you placed the center of interest on the right side of the photo. I read everyone's comments and can see you have choices. My thoughts on your comment that lightening changed the stormy atmosphere of the image was then--why not DARKEN the sky to bring out the drama, keeping the lighthouse light like it is. I guess that would mean darkening the foreground too. Maybe a slight golden glow to the white of the light house. In other words, edit the heck out of it, for a fun exercise. |

It works in monotone but that dark shadow really draws my eye now. The color has more details showing. I like your color version, nice color. |

What an amazing cloud you captured, I saw some tall ones like that in Eastern Washington and Utah. Not here in Western Washington.
It does seem a bit blue still, I find that dehaze is great but does make blues intense.I like both Mike and Marla's blue fix. both seem right to me. As a painter I know that the sky gets greener towards the horizon and more cobalt blue towards the sky. That's because the earth has some reflection but also the horizon is farther than the sky above, so more particles in the lower air of the distant horizon. |

Thanks, and I almost didn't even think anyone would like it, I was just in a super hurry before heading out of town and grabbed this image to use this month. |

Thanks John. At first I really struggled with my D850, trying to find the buttons that were so different from my D750. And my images seemed so grainy even though its supposed to be SUPER in low lighting. After a trip to the Washington coast I now really love my camera. i got great shots there with it.
I was waiting for improvements before buying it but got seduced by a salesman showing me things it could do, and in a weak moment I bought it. |

It does work i guess though I love the blue, brown and green of this image. I should visit your group as I also love monochrome shots. I never would have even thought of mono for this shot at night, so thanks for expanding my mind! |

You can ask, Theresa, but I don't know. My photographer friend who set up this outing brought the light. It gives a fairly soft light and is used to light up things in the dark. She used it at Moab too, though I wasn't shooting at the same places usually there. It works on battery power. I can ask her about it. Pretty handy though I often wished we could just have some natural light. |
