Thanks for the input. The signs seem to not be popular with folks! I removed them in another version for printing due to the feedback from everyone. |

I will look at that crop, and perhaps then also do one on the right side.
I did a couple of black and white's of this and the red and white sign isn't a focal point in monotone.I thought about taking it out in this shot but just toned it down. sometimes I am not sure about cleaning everything human out of a shot, but photo clubs seem to want that. I'm up and down about it.
I love this shot but when I printed it, it looked pretty blah. Better in black and white, but online I got more notice of the color version. Sigh. thanks for the comments. |

Stunning shot, I wouldn't change a thing, you already did everything to it that makes it an outstanding photo.
I love the fence too, leading me into the background, but every layer has its interest, the grassy fields, the mountains, and the sky--all fabulous.
I have never used Topaz, and don't know what it does but after seeing this I will have to check it out!
I do use color efex and access it by right clicking on the image in bridge. I keep meaning to use lightroom, but never have even though I have owned it forever. I love my photoshop and Nik suite. |

Stunning shot! And stunning to hear that you sold your camera. I too hope you then bought a newer one.
The tiny boat makes this work, balancing out the tree in the foreground. The boat draws us in because we can see the people inside, and the interesting shape of the boat.
wonderfully taken. And the sky is of course gorgeous!
Well done. |

Wow, a lot to look at here. So interesting with the sun cutting out a piece of the rocks, and sending super rays down to the ground.
I love taking photos that aren't perfect and playing with them, so much to explore in editing options.
I'm not quite sure where Nancie's edits would go but that might be good as the stunning focal point is the top of that rock with the sun-rays coming out.
But you wouldn't want to loose those tender colors you put into the sky either.

I didn't notice the garbage can until I read the comments and had to go back and look for it. But I did like what Marla did to this. The things she took out were making my eyes confused about where to look in this image.
The pond on the left caught my attention first (as it did yours) then the sky, and building and trees. A lot to pull focus. I thought it looked like a summer shot and was surprised when you said it was icy. Maybe a bluer tone would have given me that.
The sky is quite active, I always like to see drama there, so good job bringing that out more. And, I want to do some more split toning too. I watched a video and did some a while back, but when I don't do it soon again, I forget how. And I have.
This might be really cool without the building, just sky, trees and pond. But that would be a real tough edit, at least for my skills. In my photo club they are always laughing about how a shot would be better if. . . .and then name some impossible edit or viewpoint. The building is there, next to the pond. I like to shoot from my car too, and my picture this month is out the window of my car.
Maybe we should start a photo dialogue group for us "car shooters."

wonderfully captured, and what great composition.
Your figure is so perfectly placed, and wonderful concentric circles coming from around him/her.
The black and white works well. I would love to see a bit more detail in the dark stripes brought out.
The details in each of the water areas are different, making the textures so interesting. It makes me slow down and look at each terrace individually. Since you have detail in the dark areas, I think you could bring it out a bit more.
But, maybe others like it just the way it is?
This is a shot I wish I had seen and taken, beautiful.

I like the shot very much. I also wanted to see some details in the branches and moss, since I could see some already in the branch closest to us, and liked that.
F-13 for an aperture should give us a very sharp image I think, so maybe a higher ISO would have worked here. i know your camera is fabulous with detail, but that is a very low shutter speed at ISO 100. Were you shooting from a boat?
I like seeing some of the green coloring on the branch, and also like the black and white too. |
