I like this composition and detail. I know how you feel about the trees being removed - I always feel sad when trees or old barns are removed. It was good you were able to get an image of this tree-covered lane before they were gone. |

I like this image a lot and love the way you processed this - sort of a watercolor effect? The soft effect suits this scene well and really gives it the look of going back in time. I don't think it is overdone. |

Great composition, detail and color! Use of a telephoto lens to compress the scene and bring the mountain closer and make it more imposing was a very good choice. You will have to explain how you "lengthened the rails"? This photo has a lot of impact and I wouldn't change anything. |

How lucky you were to see and capture this! Like Debi, I would try to lighten the shadows a little. You might be able to draw out a little more detail on the snow-covered area of the mountain as well as the darker lower area by bringing out the shadows. I might also try warming the white balance just a little to bring out more gold tones in the dawn sky as well as the light striking the mountain but I like the contrast of the cool blue (purple) tone of the mountain and the warmer tone of the sky. Very nice photo!

I love everything about this image - the tonality, curving lines and contrast and most of the fog and clouds! There is a nice flow to this image with the bright features that begin at the lower left and lead up to the darker buildings at the upper right. This has a very dream-like feel.

Nice panorama, Nancie! I agree that adjusting Shadows or Curves will bring out more detail in the water. You might then be able to dodge some of the highlights. Lightening a very dark area may result in more noise so you may need to apply some kind of noise reduction. Another thought - Doing this adjustment will also lighten the sky which you may want to remain darker. Some tools will allow you to selectively apply adjustments but I don't know what software you have.

Thanks Debi and Nancie. I like the suggestions and will apply them. Yes, Nancie - I do have a few ghosts in the image! These are a result of combining three exposures. If I had noticed them before I could have used the ghosting option in Photomatix to select one of the images for that area. I will reprocess this to remove the ghosts and yellow poles. |
