Joan, I was admiring this photo and reading the description before I noticed whose it is. It might be just the photo my son would like for his home in the wine country. |

Yes, the judge definitely noticed the lean. Also was unimpressed by the subject matter. But to me it's a good memento of a vacation. . .all that counts in this situation. |

Such a calm, serene scene in the fog. Well seen and captured. Tho the woman in complementary pink is minuscule, she is indeed the subject of your image. Did you enhance her color? Very effective. I agree that you might crop a bit more from the right which would still leave her well positioned. |

A difficult capture well done. Sharp throughout. Your darkened background is effective. I, too, would give more space at the top. Also a stroke. Possibly a base, tho the fact that he is floating does add to the uniqueness of this person and the full moon event. |

Thank you, everybody for your suggestions on my leaning tower. Wish I'd noticed that b/4 sending it to PSA and probably the same version to a club competition. |

Yes, a terrific idea well executed, Bob! I like the strong colors and the abstract patterns in the water, especially the hands reaching up over the goggles. |

Peter, I like your composition and the way you've enhanced it, especially the sky. I would have suggested showing all of the dark board at the bottom but agree that some of the water would be even better. Now that Bob has pointed out the three white spots, I agree that they could go. |

I like the curves playing off the diagonals and the fact that the reflection has both.
Interestingly varied textures and good tonal range. |

You have captured a lot of architectural detail along with the story-telling element of the foreground book. If I had been there and noticed the stack of chairs (which I very well could have overlooked) I would not have been above moving them away long enough to take the picture. A charming, little church. |

I would merely repeat what has already been said about the layers and the helpful position of the cactus. The various textures and the shadow-enhanced shapes of the rock formations make this an excellent monochrome subject. Well done. |

Thank you, Chris. I wanted to add something to the triangle at the bottom, specifically lines merging at the vanishing point. But I didn't know how other than drawing them in, so I didn't. I guess I could simply add a texture, perhaps growing lighter as it recedes. |

John, I think the monochrome implies an old windmill tho the metal structures belie that, so I prefer the colored version. Still I think the communications tower and electric pole do distract, and I'd remove them. Both versions are well processed and make me want to travel to Holland. |

I, too, prefer the mono of the lovely, traditional-looking hanukkiot. Including the person in the image takes it from still life to a story. Questions: Were those oil lamps in front or just standard hanukkiot without candles? Was this in the Mea Sherim neighborhood of Jerusalem? Also the line below the man's hand looks like something hanging there when it is actually a zipper on his sweater. I'd clone it out. Thank you for sharing this image.

I like the complimentary blues and yellows of the original, but your cropped and well processed conversion is far more striking. A first I thought the building should be straightened so the right side is parallel to the frame. But then I realized the angle adds additional dynamism, which makes the image. . . . in addition to the tiny paint brush. OMG, he'll be there forever. |
