Joan, I, too, see the tiny imperfection, far right. But the centered image is so clever and beautiful with interest in the flower and depth in the surround. Well done! |

For my club, I made it darker. Still without arms. |

Thank you for your suggestion, John. I have given it a bit more contrast here, but I think it looks more dusty and forlorn without it. |

Thanks for your suggestion, Stuart. I rotated it and realized that the detail in the foreground distracted the eye from moving toward the back, where, for my club submission, there is now a person silhouetted in the doorway. |

Thanks for the suggestion, Don. I'm submitting it to my club with a person in the doorway. |

Jerry, I rather like the soft, misty, dreamy quality of your elongated, uncropped original tho I would crop some from the top. The single dark figure is effective with the framing pine, but I find the white building distracts, especially since the photographer is your subject/title. I think it adds to the scene so would darken it or add a lightened earth tone from the field rather than trying to clone it out. A soft, contemplative scene, we know why the photographer stopped for it. |

Stuart, I agree with John and Don in seeing two images. The patterns in the foam are interesting, an image in itself. The bridge with its reflection is, too. But the two don't seem tied together despite the leading, wavy line of the right bank and the echoing of the bridge's shape in the narrow, light line at the top of the foam. |

Excellent architectural shot, Stan. The details in the ceiling, columns and floor are wonderful. The only thing I'd change is the title. As I said this month on a different page, these days I'm looking for the title to match the image, and this is about the building, not the people. |

Congratulations on this successful macro. I pretty much agree with Chris on the complementary colors of the original and the tight crop. |

Excellent details, sharpness and greyscale range on this wonderful, old engine. I think cropping from the left to the second vertical grass would call more attention to the light and numbers. My husband, the train buff, wants to know whether it "lives" in St Louis permanently. A reason to travel. |

Wonderful image, Chris! Congratulations on your HONORS!. Well deserved. Wonderful graphics! Did your judge suggest cropping from the bottom as most here have and with which I agree? Someone suggested the man was secondary: recently I'm very much interested in titles to reflecting the maker's intent. So naming it for his descent, we know he's the primary. |
