37 Jan 23 Comment Glad you cropped in and "focused" on the bright, sharp eyes. At first I thought she looked sad, then with a longer look realized it could be love for her baby, and it did become a very moving image. Good job cloning in the additional fur, too. Jan 31st
37 Jan 23 Comment Peter, I, too, like the high key and light vignette on your good capture. I don't feel it's unfortunate that the antelope ran away. It might have offered you an opportunity for more photos, and I realize the cheetahs do need to eat, but still. . . Jan 31st
37 Jan 23 Comment Wonderful capture of the sharp, interesting detailing. The diagonal positioning enhances the dynamic thrust. I wouldn't change a thing. Jan 23rd
37 Jan 23 Comment Whether it's about love or dominance, it's a charming pose. I agree with lightening the brown horse's legs and darkening the grassy area, where my eye is drawn to study the shape of that negative space, not your intent, I'm sure. Jan 23rd
37 Jan 23 Reply Thanks, Howard. I darkened that area, but you're right, I should do more. Jan 23rd
37 Jan 23 Reply Thank you, Lee Ann. Yes, We are lucky to be able to travel. Had big plans for 2020, the year after my husband retired. Catching up now, traveling while we're able.

64 Jan 23 Comment In the color version, the red berries stand out, but they aren't sharp. I prefer your final image with the frost as the star of the show. Jan 31st
64 Jan 23 Comment Huge and majestic, even more dramatic in monochrome set against the dark sky. I can't help wondering who the laborers were. Wonderful detail, and the comparatively small buildings in front show its scale. An excellent image. Jan 25th
64 Jan 23 Comment Jerry, my eye was first pulled to the two luminous windows and their raindrops, of course. The lower right pane seemed a puzzling smudge until Stan pointed out that it is the interior. The top panes show the imperfections of the old glass. I like your original image and agree that there could be several different, successful crops as discussed above. Jan 24th
64 Jan 23 Comment I like the composition, the segment of the bridge you choose. Did you consider making the sky and water even lighter keeping the structure as is and going high key? Perhaps with an S curves layer.

64 Jan 23 Comment I agree with cropping a bit from the bottom and perhaps a horizontal flip. Regardless of the title, I just keep looking at the stark black and white on the left, trying to figure out what it is. It completely distracts me from the prints and the rest of the interesting snow scene. Jan 24th
64 Jan 23 Comment I, too, prefer the mono and vertical to the original. The double frame pulls it together. I like the shapes and textures and imagine different images in the patterns: a hug, an artist's palette. A question, tho. My club is considering creating a SIG (special interest group) for abstract images. I enjoy playing, making abstracts; however, I don't think judges like them. What do others, especially the judges among you, think? Jan 24th
64 Jan 23 Reply Chris, your comment about the criss cross of the straight lines urges me to look more closely at my compositions. It was a lucky accident, one I would have noticed, if at all, after I looked at the image at home, not in the field. Jan 23rd
64 Jan 23 Reply Thank you, Stephen. You have put more thought into my positioning and viewpoint than I did. I just wanted a shot without people and don't recall why I was zoomed in so tightly. Jan 23rd
64 Jan 23 Reply Thank you, John. See my comment to Jerry above. Jan 19th
64 Jan 23 Reply Good observation, Jerry. In fact I felt it was doing a discredit to this very white building by darkening it as much as I did. Jan 19th
64 Jan 23 Reply Thank you, John. That's a high compliment. Jan 13th
64 Jan 23 Reply Good idea! It would have been fun to have the blur of people at the base. I'll keep that in mind when I have a tripod, which I didn't that night. Jan 12th
64 Jan 23 Reply Thanks for the suggestion, Stuart. See my comment to Stan. The church is prettier, more impressive from the front, but too many tourists for a clean shot. Jan 11th
64 Jan 23 Reply Thank you, Stan. What is PTD? I believe I cloned out something on the left side but thought the discontinuity of the missing roof on the right would be noticeable. Maybe not.
