This speaks well of your marriage! I hope my comments didn't offend. |

I like Howard's darkened sky. Perhaps the white cloud directly above the barn's roof could be converted to blue sky to further set off the roof. I agree that the white structure on the right edge pulls the eye away from the barn. I like that you included the silo with the vegetation on its top. |

Very impressive capture of this close maneuver, Howard. Watching the Blue
Angels in SF each year is a thrill. Difficult to capture. Tho we see shots of them in our clubs, I've never succeeded. |

Revisiting and rethinking. I rather like the large plaza in front setting off the gate. |

Well seen and well processed, Bob. You got rid of everything extraneous. The sky looks especially good between the arches, but there are some dark spots above as well as a light line at the left edge and a wedge at the top. (from correcting for distortion?) I suggest cropping out about half of the foreground and a some of the sky. You would have a really fine image of this historic landmark. |

Now that I know the model is your wife, I take issue with the title on her behalf. My husb thought it was a pic I'd taken of him in WA; he wouldn't have liked that title. |

Love the title, Ham. You do have a way with words. How convenient of the model (your friend?) to be perfectly positioned to emphasize the scale and in red to contrast with the greenery. I wonder: does the blue sky distract or is it needed to show the height of the trees (redwood or pine?)? Shooting in a forest is difficult, and you've handled it well without it's looking HDR. |

Chris, I, too, like the interesting, varied patterns of the ripples, especially where the top section meets the bottom with a slight S curve. I agree with Stuart about the line from the left, but would crop it carefully so as not to lose the zipper-looking ripples upon ripples in the foreground. |

Jerry, although I usually dislike out of focus foregrounds, here, in your vignetted version, the fish really work to frame/draw attention to the man's face and the clock, your focal points. Then I look around at all the rest. Agreed, this is now a winner altho I might slightly darken that bright, top bit of salmon and the envelope? on the right edge. |

You're probably right about the clouds. I was more focused on how dark to make the texture of the two rocky areas. |

A good incentive to learn to use control points in NIK. No wet feet necessary at this Coast Guard protected area. |

Yes, this is a beautiful square that I'd never seen. You were well positioned using the two buildings to frame the white statue against the dark sky. Lots of beautiful lines and texture to explore. Altho I realize you didn't use a filter, all the medium greys make it look like a very fine etching. |

You found a good vantage point to tell both parts of the story, the racers churning up dust and the two statically waiting. Cropping from the right to frame the riders does emphasize the distant racers on the track. |

A dark and mysterious abstract with effective contrast of the light edges adding depth. Well done. |

Yes, nice, sharp detail. Don't know that I've ever seen Honolulu's high rises. I'm struck by the commonality of the buildings with their similar horizontal patterns contrasted with the softness of clouds above and the palms below. I like the frame on the left. Thought at first that I'd like the little bit of the shorter building on the right removed, but that would be too pat; this is more interesting. Well seen and well presented.
