I agree with Ham. Yes, you are resourceful and they do look like a trio would their arms extended. I might crop a bit from the top. A very eye-catching image. Well done. |

WOW! Over the top HDR. 5 shots hand held! Your descriptions, Ham, are as poetic as your photography. In one sense, I agree with howard: the boat on the right would balance the cloud. But the curve of creek is your third subject. I have tried NIK's HDR Efex and got truly bizarre results. If you give Howard permission to share your address, I'll send you the image and ask your advice.

Howard, this is striking. Good detail on the petals. An effective use of flash, which I never do b/c it usually shows unwanted shadows, but not here. Is this a set up with a black backdrop or in situ? I might crop a bit from the right, but don't find branches a distraction. A lovely image. |

Thank you, Howard. Well done on the cropping. Also the cloned out stop sign, which would make it ineligible for Travel. I had brightened it. Either not enuf, or I sent you the wrong version. All in all, an improvement. |

Thank you, Jerry. Yes, I have been doing a lot of graphics. After more than ten years in my club, I'm at the masters level but cannot compete with the others' fine landscapes etc. Graphics are my fallback. |

Thanks, Stuart. I've modified it, without darkening the grass. |

Thanks, Lance. I cropped from the bottom. Don't know whether that extended arm leads into or out of the image. I could crop it more to be even with the other, making a V. |

Stan and John, I agree that the grass rather dominated the image but liked the extension of the shadow, crawling out there. So I tried reducing the contrast, but still not happy with it, finally gave it a slight Gaussian blur. I also incorporated Lance and Don's suggestions. Don't know whether that helps or not. What do you think? |

I agree, Stuart, that the darkened foliage sets off the vehicle. Since it was originally in color I'd like to see what you meant by toning it. Something like sepia toning, or adding paint or colored pencil to a print? I've been taking photos of old vehicles lately and hope to do them in over-the-top HDR but have had trouble with NIK's HDR Efex, getting truly bizarre results. Also, you seem to find far more of them than I. A good find, well presented. |

I agree with Lance's crop. The portion he eliminated was busy and disracted from effect of her glance and her striking, brunette coloring against the white umbrella. Perfect for monochrome. |

A good capture of this "smiling, jaunty" fellow, well positioned to walk thru the frame, tho I'd crop from the top and bottom. I agree that the detail of the grass is distracting but on his feathers and water droplets good.
Enjoy Greece and Turkey. We'd hoped to take the family to Greece this summer, but it's not going to happen. Eager to see your photos. |
