Isaac, I like the patterns and the mix of warm and cool colors in the textured metal. Also the contrast of the plants in your little herbarium and your imagination in finding Hitchcock there. Well seen! I would like to read Joe's Aug, 2018 article. Can you tell me how to find it in the archives? I have also referenced Joe in my posting this month in Group 37. |

Thanks for visiting, Isaac. Found Joe's article in the PSA archive.
I, too, think this image looks like Cuba, but it's actually Buenos Aires. |

A wonderful, sharp macro capture. Love the contrast between the velvety wings and the flower. I doubt I've ever seen this butterfly and like its dramatic contrast, too. |

Not a fan of LV, I doubt I'd have noticed the pleasing, fantasy effect of the color palette you captured here. To me, that is much more the subject of the image than the roller coaster. I think you did well to tone down the whites. |

Very dramatic! Altho I like the contrast of the blue and yellow, I would crop the sand back to the pails, or even farther. I agree that a mono would also be interesting. |

You have the yellow part (and I'm not going to research at this late hour what it's called) in just the right position. Its contrasting color and sharpness also make it stand out from the softness and patterns of the petals. |

Lovely, Ham. I, too, like the layers and agree with Howard that cropping out the bright foreground brings more attention to the geese. |

Thank you,Cindy. So glad that you noticed this image and stopped by to share your memories of Joe. Reading your bio, I see that you did very well in Print of the Month competitions so apparently had a lot of interaction with Joe. No doubt a lot of us learned from him. His legacy. |

What a monumental industrial structure. Wonderful full gray scale detail in the lift and its surroundings. I especially like your first additional image showing the lift in action so I can see its function. . . likely taken a different day with a different sky. |

I spent a lot of time at Bandon Beach on a photo tour a few years ago, never thinking to try my images in B&W. This is very effective. I like you angle on the sea stacks and agree with Jerry re the figure and its shadow. All the fine detail gives your image the look of an etching. |

A new rendition of a classical image. The filter, tint and dark vignette all give it an old time-y feel. I also like the breathtaking colors of Original 2. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery. I, too, am glad you worked ahead to share your images with us. |

I really enjoy old buildings. This is a good one with the light and shadow and the contrasting textures of the grass, bricks, weathered wood, and the filigree of white branches. So glad you stopped to capture and to share it with us. |

Sharp throughout, I like the dominance of the white steeple trim contrasted with the silhouetted leafy frame. Using a green tint for your monochrome suited this image well. |

Thank you, Stan and others, for your suggestion to open the shadows. They were completely black especially at the base. I did open them but see that I could do more. |

Jerry, I prefer the monochrome image of this interesting, unusual locale. Initially I thought these were Christmas lights. How strange that the seemingly white lights cast colored reflections. And in the B&W version, it doesn't matter. Rereading, I now understand what the vertical lines are, but not sure how they function at each slip to warn boaters. Fortunately your tripod allowed a low ISO, preventing noise. I suspect that you took several shots to get it right. Well captured, well processed in post. |
