I think this is absolutely stunning, Doug, propellers and all. It stopped me as I scrolled thru all of this month's images. 58 shots on a rail! Very impressive. |

Thanks for responding, Jen. I had envisioned a collage using that effect, and now I know how to acheive it. |

Jen, I like your color palette on this very complex image.
Congratulations on your wonderful Member Showcase image. How did you get that streaked effect?

As I scrolled thru this month's images, Diana, this called to me. Very graphic, minimalist and stark in its high contrast, it's my kind of image. A favorite image from my darkroom days of yore was about light and shadows on a roll of paper. I decided to make a series but never did another until what I posted last month in Group 64. Your image and this discussion encourage me to do that series. |

No, we were to go to Barcelona in late March. Cancelled by COVID. We've just seen Milwaukee plus bridges in Buenos Aires and Redding CA. After leaving Venice, we learned there's one at the far end of the Grand Canal. |

I first encountered Calatrava at the Milwaukee Museum. Its roof opens, too, at noon every day, weather permitting. |

As I scrolled thru this month's pix, Larry, this called to me b/c it looked silver. Seen larger, I realize it's by my favorite architect demonstrating his fondness for birds' wings. Well captured with wonderful detail from a good vantage point, this nighttime shot is perfect in monochrome. |

The presence of the man makes the picture, showing us the scale, the vastness of the site. I like the soft rolling terrain as shown by the soft shadows as opposed to his strong one. I also like the different texture of the ridge in back. I initially thought the bit of sky was distracting, but I think its contrasting color emphasizies the orange of the hills. |

The wrinkled nose and big paws say "Kitten." The teeth say "No." Well captured from the fur detail and catchlights to the soft focus background. Tho we had to cancel this month's trip to Chicago, when we do get there again, I definitely want to go to the Brookfield Zoo and the Chicago Botanical Garden. You have beautifully showed us a wealth of subjects there. |

Bob, I agree with Stephen on using skew. Yes, this is a beautiful building, well captured. You were fortunate to be able to tour and select a vantage point. We, like most, only saw it from a boat on the Danube unable to appreciate the fine Gothic Revival architectural detail you show here. |

Very serene. A peaceful escape from the stress and lockdown of COVID. I like the subtle cloudiness of the sky. Perhaps too blue in the right corner? The blue and green speak of spring. . .just the right time to see the network of branches through the new spring foliage. Is this a willow? |

I like posture, too. Good detail of the eye and wing feathers.
The dark background sets it off beautifully. Very nice portrait.
Oh to have a 500 mm lens. |

The moon over the silhouette creates a very pleasing image. The blue of the sky is lovely, and I like that it's repeated in the moon. Clever idea. |

Thank you, Stephen. I submitted this in monochrome to my club. The girl was smaller, and the judge didn't like it b/c he thought "the runner should be captured with a larger stride." I'd post it here but saving it to use another time in Group 64. I had wanted to post a similar mono there this month with lines converging to a point of interest, or not. Couldn't find it in time so I did another but will post that in 64 sometime, too. I'll follow your work in Group 32. |

Stan, I'm torn re the amount of grassy foreground. It does make this look like two pictures. I do, however, like the leading line. I like your suggestion to compress it using a longer lens. And/or I would darken the grass, crop from the bottom and create a leading line continuing toward the cathedral, allowed in pictorial. Nice Ansel Adams dark sky. |

Got a first in pictorial from the next judge. It's SO objective. Entered it for monochrome next month. And it will appear here in Nov as an entirely morphed iteration. Getting a lotta milage out of one Rookery image. |

Stuart, I like both the original and the monochrome. While I like the sharp detail on the forelock, on the face it seems either too contrasty or, perhaps, overly sharpened. I am drawn right into the eye in the original, which has more detail than in the second. A good closeup, tho, of a handsome horse. |

Jerry, re your mention of mirrors, I did create a mirrored image of this. Submitted it to my club as a Creative, and got not even an HM. Being at the Masters level, I think it didn't show enough creativity. Trying again, then I'll just enter it as a Pictorial. |

I agree about the shadow, Don, likely mine as I leaned in to photograph. If I submit it to my club, I will darken that entire corner up to the woodwork. |

Love the curves v. the straight line. Very sensuous. Also the smoothness of the marble v the textures of the light and dark areas. You found an interesting angle to create a minimalist, graphic image with a full range of tones. I had no idea Google was making cameras. |

Don, I like your diagonal placement, the contrast of the straight versus the interesting curved forms, and the various textures. The B&W treatment makes the rope look silver. An interesting scene which I would have overlooked. |

This is beautiful, John. Yes, tack sharp with lovely reflections. Wonderful in B&W. Good choice of the NIK version . I don't see the graininess. Don't think you need so much sky, but cropping down would to the shoreline in the center, so maybe yours is a good choice. |
