I had also done this was an ellipse but thought the rectangle's lines were more graceful. However, the oval seems more like moving thru a tube to escape. Also, it needed to be darker, so one would want to escape into the light. As per your suggestion, I got rid of the horizontal lines and Georgianne's to show sky above the tree. Then added a more current image for submission to my club b/c poppy season is long gone. |

Alan, as always you have imagined and executed a most creative image. All of the elements work together beautifully. I like the story and the tone. My initial impression, too, was that the boot seems to be floating and that Jan's shadow anchors it. Thank you for your detailed explanations here and on the General Information page.
Congratulations on your Journal article: well written, a wealth of information, and an inspiration, since I've lost my old images, to again begin building up folders of different categories. My greatest challenge is the initial inspiration. Maybe folders will help. |

As always, Jan, I am in awe of your imagination, creativity, stick-to-it-ivness, and skill in compositing disparate elements into a fascinating picture. |

I really like the cooling, icy look and aged effect you've achieved here. I enjoy the bare tree front and center and the moss on the others. |

What a cooling, almost eerie, image for a hot day. You've worked it well and the subtle face hiding there is fascinating |

This is really beautiful, Steve. Love the painterly effect and the way the bluebells (well extracted from their original scene) are leaning in toward the garlic. Thank you for sharing the history of the trail. |

Thank you, Steve. You are absolutely right. They are a distraction. I did remove them on an earlier version but forgot to on this. |

I enjoy that you've captured the birds in different acts and relationships. A lovely bird which I don't see here. Need to get a bird feeder, a nice diversion for these quiet days. |

Good detail, and I love the humor of her dancing step. I invited to our club somebody who I thought would speak about critters to photograph in our backyards during lockdown. Actually he showed mostly birds while describing his perches (usually a branch with some lichen for interest) and neutral backgrounds (in one area a line with green tarps.) You did very with your out of focus background here. See his work at dreamcatcherimages.net |

I never thought of photographing dead flowers, and this is lovely. The detail you captured is excellent. Also, I wouldn't have thought to use the similar color for the background, which, with its gradient, effectively picks up so many shades of the roses. The blue vase was a good choice, and you show just enough to complement the roses while keeping them the focal point. |

Peter, I also like the bands of color, the blue and brown together, the sparkles of light on the sand and thought those were sun rays, which I'm surprised you got at f6.3. |

Welcome to our group, Ham. This is an interesting bird, well captured with his catch and good D of F. I will look forward to your excellent bird images as I've never done them. |

Peter, we look like a birding group this month. I am impressed by anybody who can capture a bird in flight, carrying his dinner no less. The eye is nice and sharp, the background well blurred; and I bow to Ham's experienced suggestion on increasing the shutter speed. |

Thanks, Stephen. Our club had color and monochrome competitions last night, so I tried B&W. But the color of the wall was what had initially called me to the site, so I preferred it that way and submitted it as a colored image. Tho the judge liked it, it didn't win, so will maybe enter it some time as a monochrome. |
