Thanks, Jan. I photographed the pumpkin from several different angles and chose the one I like best. |

Thank you for introducing me to steampunk with such a beautiful image. The imagination, skill, and patience you've exhibited here are amazing, Jan. I love it! |

Thank you for the input, Candy. Yes, I could shoot the pumpkin from a different angle. Magritte, on his "Son of Man," pictured the man from the front and not in silhouette, so the shading on his apple and the slight shadow below also make it look less like "floating." |

Welcome to our group, Denise. A beautiful first image. I especially like the reflection and the background. I can certainly learn a lot from you.

I agree with all above. A very effective use of selective coloring |

I like the way you've added the effect of fireworks to rim. |

This is really lovely, Candy. Everything you've done brings beauty I never imagined in the ugly critters I see wandering our neighborhood. |

Well done as always, Steve. She has a beautiful completion, but the adjustments to her face's structure are good. The smile is, as always, subtle and effective, as was your work on the rose, otherwise barely visible. Especially like the background, the hue, and the removal of the shiny disk at her neckline. |

Thank you for the interesting modifications, Jan. Will look in PS to see whether I have both water color and oil. I don't recall two. Also, I'll keep in mind that painting filters can add rain to a cloudy sky and grain to wood. |

Rene Magritte, Belgian, 1898-1967, was a foremost surrealist artist along with Salvador Dali and Max Ernst. His apple image as in "The Son of Man" and "The Listening Room," is said to have been the inspiration for the Beatles' record label and Steve Jobs' product logo. |

Thank you for your input, Steve. Don't recall why I had him face away.
among Magritte's many paintings, however, are some with the figure in silhouette. |

Just google Rene Magritte. You'll see the most if you then go to "images." |

Thank you, Georgianne. I was trying to create the same proportions as in Magritte's paintings. On the most famous one, with the apple, there are leaves in front of the hat, which is why I placed it as I did and left the stem. I even considered stretching my husband's silhouette to make him long and lean, more like Magrittes', but I rather like him as he is. |

Yes, the front lion is the focal point with eyes looking straight at me, engaging me. He seems proud, concentrating, almost approachable. Wonderful detail; just enough sharpening. I like that the second is not as sharp and he does look menacing. I agree that the green bit on the right is a distraction. THIS is the reason to go on a safari. |

Wonderful textural image. Well composed. My eye moves up the trunk to settle on the larger leaves just to its right. It certainly speaks of autumn in the midwest, whose color I miss and rarely see in CA, tho this year is better than most. |

You've certainly captured the decisive moment with sharp definition throughout. Their musculature is beautiful, and I like the array of colors of the jockeys' silks and the bands across the horses' heads. What are those and their function? (Especially like the pink and aqua ear coverings.) |

I, too, would like to see more of the trees. I like their color played off the monochrome of the mountains' ridges enhanced by the snow. |

This is just beautiful, Peter. My eye moves to three focal points, the flaming trees, the "sharp" space needle, then Mt Rainier. I agree with darkening the white roof in the center and cropping from the right enough to get rid of the yellow building and the distracting piece on the bottom. Then I'd hang it in my home. |
