Beautiful! I was frustrated not to get it sans people. You were realistic enuf to make them part of the story. HDR and wide angle (10mm?) were very successful. Did you desaturate the people and vehicle? Congratulations on your successful capture of this iconic site. |

Nancy, looking back at your previous images, I really admire those with background brushstrokes. Can these be achieved with PS, or is your "collection" from elsewhere?
Re this month's lovely mage: how do you "run an action"? |

Lots of happy color and geometrics here, Georgianne. I like Jan's blur, drawing focus to the end to the road. Glad you referred us to your Nov image. I was wondering where the road came from; you certainly have transformed it. |

You have certainly modified your image to perfectly depict the Havana I know: bright colors and grunge. I, too, like Georgianne's modifications, the cropping and darkening. |

Thank you, Jan, for your again helpful comments.
Will check out the website. This month's image was inspired by an the cover illustration for Saturn in Sunday's NY Times magazine. Who knew? |

Jan, this is WONderful! Who knew something so clever and beautiful could be based upon the twirl effect I've done in the past. I love your manipulating it and using it so cleverly on a silhouette of colors against the black background to create this very original image. |

Well done, Grace. Good, sharp, well-composed wild-life action shot. Congratulations on capturing this decisive moment. |

How regal he is! Not familiar with Luminar. Is that what caused the graininess and the blueness of the background grass? It seems that the blue in the foreground comes from tiny flowers, right? In any case, congratulations for shooting him. I'm sure you will work the image more (or less?) and have a wonderful trophy of your safari (unlike the midwestern dentist who spent $54,000 to kill beloved Cecil.) |

Beautiful scene. Beautiful color. And I like that your shutter speed was fast enough to capture the motion on the water. Initially I wanted the dark area cropped from the bottom. But I see that that you used the darker curve at the base as a frame. You could lighten that a bit, but it might not achieve the effect you want. Also, you might have gotten close to the ground and foreshortened the expanse of the water. In any case, it's lovely. |

This is breathtaking, Jim. Very inviting. I'd do nothing to change it for all the reasons above. Congratulations on it, on your outdoor adventurous spirit, and on your stamina. |

Peter, I like the effect of the moving clouds. Having not shot infrared, I'm unsure how that made it happen. It's something I've wanted to do with long exposure provided by a strong neutral density filter. I like the sharpness of the mountain range and would like my eye to go there rather than to the whiteness in the sky. Perhaps tone down the latter. And I think Gunter's cropping helps. Also, I'd clone out the bush at the top of the mountain on the right. You've captured lovely scene which definitely lends itself to monochrome, resulting, as Grace said, with the full tonal range with your effective post processing. |

I REALLY like the way the tiny ship, which MAKES the image, echoes the larger rock in the foreground. Much more interesting than your original intent. Also like what I assume was wavy water smoothed into fog by the long exposure. While the trees on the right stop the eye from moving off the page, I think your image would be more powerful without them. B & W as well as the centered horizon line were good choices making me look at the interesting clouds, the lower one echoing the foreground. Does the horizon tilt very slight to the right? |
