A brilliant use of the disparate elements. . . to see concrete as the milky way! I love the way you've put them all together to composite your Zen image. |

A Well done treatment, your texture and his pose make him seem to be part of the tree. To me he looks comical; so I was surprised to read that they're dangerous. |

I like your "Retirement Afternoon," Georgianne: the painterly effect and the saturated color. I, personally, would have preferred a less aggressive-looking dog, perhaps lying down or sitting near his master's chair; but this is the dog you had, and you've done a good job with your composite. I, too, missed his shadow and like the one Christine added. |

I love the gentle effect you've given this iris and the delicacy of the tissue- sheer structure beneath the petals. |

Candy, I like what you've done with the color and creating the water and reflection. Gehry's buildings are so creative; I laud you for adding your own creativity, something that never occurred to me. |

Steve, I love your cow. My favorite of your images since I've joined the group. . . with the possible exception of your Guitar Man. In especially like the texture and tone. In addition to a work of art, you've made her look sweet and approachable.

Terrific suggestion, Jan. I, too, would like to get such a texture without buying more software. |

Thank you, Steve. The original was from an Ian Plant online class.
In the section on lighting, the assignment was to capture backlighting. The best example I found was the backlit back of the sunflower.
I feel this is too tight relative to the size of the flower. Before submitting it for a Creative competition at my club, I'll make the background square larger. |

A unique approach to photographing a stand of flowers. I agree with Jim re cropping but like the feel of motion just as you have it. |

Well seen and well captured, Jim. I like your sharp foreground rocks anchoring the image, especially the centered one as my eye moves back between the reflections toward the snowcapped mountains beyond. With a 20% crop from the top to eliminate some of the sky and move the horizon iff center, I would like this serene scene on my wall. |

I think the reflections at the top add interest. The child is interacting with the man, a bonus. If the front of the boat is on the right, I, too, would like to see more space there. |

Excellent capture of an unlovely (in my opinion) bird landing. I can understand your wanting to crop out the other one, but I would crop from the right as well. The blurred foreground doesn't bother me, but the duplicated branches do. |

Thanks, Jim. Everybody seems to want to see more. As I told Theresa, I can't find these pix to even know whether I shot horizontally as well. I guess the solution would be to just clone out the partial rock on the rt. |

Thank you, Gunter. "Cramped" is probably why the others are asking for a landscape version.

Thank you Theresa. I've looked thru my shots from that trip and can't even locate this version much less a landscape one. I usually shoot both. However, I suspect that just standing on the road above, it spoke to me as a vertical. |

Howard, that is beautiful! I think you are one of the few to have seen it unfogged. |

Excellent shot of a fascinating bird, Howard. Don't remember seeing any of these when we were there. Good depth of field to get both the sharp detail on the eye, feathers, and feet but the detail-less complementary background. Did you actually see the Arenal Volcano? Few do. It's usually fogged in. |

This is a well composed, interesting Pictorial image, Grace. I like the mushrooms' luminescence and the two angles so you could show the gills. Even the mosses at the bottom and the texture of the wood. Congratulations on the successful use of your additional equipment. The little tan bit at the bottom is distracting. If you went back to the original and didn't post process, you'd have a good Nature image. Identifying the mushrooms and even the moss would be helpful, but not essential, in our council. |

Thank you, Grace. This seemed to have more of a green cast when I entered it at my club last week. Nonetheless, the judge liked it. |
