21 May 17 Comment Thank you, Alan, for commenting on my image. I had not thought of it as surrealistic.
I have been aware of your pix b/c I visit this group to see the work of Joan, Ojars, and Barrie, whom I know. Mentioning that your goal is surrealism gives me a better understanding of what you're doing, but none have been as successful, in my opinion, as this one. I like the people looking at themselves in the pictures, somewhat the Droste effect. And she can't b/c there's no pic in her frame. Very clever. Their floating, shadowless, above the floor contributes to the surrealism. Not sure about the train which is coming at an angle on a straight surface.
Lots of work for a successful outcome.

34 May 17 Reply Thank you, Jan. I felt the whites on the air plant dominated the image and was tempted to darken them. But I think you've solved the problem by giving the dancer more form and depth by shading her side and arm. Your shadow beneath her is too subtle for me to see. May 16th
34 May 17 Comment Well done, Jan! A wonderful idea, well executed. I prefer the B&W.
Thank you for referring us to the technique.

34 May 17 Comment Wonderful job, Phil, on your 24 shots and focus stacking. My favorite is version 2, tho I agree with Jan on the cropping. May 15th
34 May 17 Comment Candy, I like the original and your modifications. You've definitely improved the wall, making it more interesting but less dominant. You've added a log-like depth to the boat's slats, enhancing the hand-cafted look. I can't detect the use of the brushes and tools, sparingly added just enough to give the effects you want. The water at the front and left now has a Rembrandtesque look. A lovely image. May 15th
34 May 17 Comment You seem to have a wealth of these goth/zombie people annually, Steve. Your adjustments to her face and eyes are wonderfully subtle. I like your desaturation and blurring of the background and the rain effect in the foreground. The triangle of hair distracts me, too. While the subject doesn't appeal to me, but I certainly appreciate your work on it. May 15th
34 May 17 Comment Thank you all for your comments. I had left more space on the right as we always do so the subj can move in the direction she's facing. However in light of Candy, Steve, and Phil's comments about cropping away some of the negative space, I realize that she's stuck in the plant and can't go anywhere anyway. May 10th

37 May 17 Comment Well done, Grace! Congratulations on your patience and freezing the motion to show such detail. This is a humming bird we don't see in N. CA. I have just hung a hb feeder outside my window. I can now enjoy them, but it's nothing like capturing an image in the wild. May 19th
37 May 17 Comment The detail on the outstretched wings is beautiful. I can even see some of their pattern in the water. The head of your gull seems less sharp, but I salute you for capturing the moment. I, too, like the splash of water. May 19th
37 May 17 Comment What a beautiful scene, Jim! I like the composition and the detail on the closest trees and love the contrast of the complementary colors of the sky and the trees as well as the mountains and the snow. You were lucky with the clouds, and capturing the sun star is amazing. The green (pines?) at the bottom anchors the image. May 16th
37 May 17 Comment Subhash, I agree that your have created memory of your feeling at seeing this lovely, serene scene. How wonderful to capture the north star beautifully reflected the lake. I realize the difficult shooting conditions prevented your retaining more the detail of the daytime image. May 16th
37 May 17 Reply Thank you, Grace. I guess sometimes less is more. May 4th
37 May 17 Reply Was the stitching done in PS? May 1st
37 May 17 Comment This is breathtaking, Henry. Congratulations! Definitely worth the effort of enduring the cold and wind and seven hours of waiting. If I had taken this, I would stop photographing and rest on my laurels. May 1st
