I like the way you've replaced the back leaf with texture and cropped the front one to direct our focus to the petals and center. I don't understand your hand painting process with the PS oil paint filter. Very appealing result. |

I agree with getting rid of the dribble but like the color and scratched effect. The scratched bronze is from Topaz, right? I'm seeing a lot of Topaz effects which tempt me to invest in it. |

I like the original version which draws my eye down the tunnel formed by the pier's geometric framing. I prefer the sand to the reflections, and the chartruese color doesn't work for me as much as the original's or Jan's or Phil's versions. Good shot from a good vantage point though. |

Well seen, Phil. I like the way your post processing enhances the patterns. I like your original more than the others' attempts, which become noisy. But I would have changed the color of the frame. Perhaps a deep burgundy with the grain smoothed out would have been more complementary without distracting. |

You started with an excellent shot with the action of the horse's angle and kicked up sand. Love the way you've been able to enhance the woman and horse while reducing the clutter but still retain the faint impression of the people and fences which establish the environment while no longer distracting.
Congratulations on your arches image on the showcase. |

Steve, I'm again amazed at your creativity and skill. The smoke brushes and the effect you've produced on her hair intrigue me. Reluctant to buy plugins, I may try Georgianne's suggestion to replicate them. I, too, find the blue vignette distracting. But love the image. |

Thank you, Steve. I like your enhancements. Are the gulls from your own files, or from a commercial source? The latter wouldn't be allowed in competition, would they? |

I already see problems: The bottom of my statue image still shows, and I should have added a vignet. I also made a version where the god was light rather than dark, which I might submit.

Beautiful bird! I like the detail of the brown feathers, wonder whether you could have brought out more on the black and white ones by using the Levels sliders. You have a catchlight in the eye, but it's obvious there that you weren't quite fast enough. Some noise in the water, but I do like its ripply texture, especially his wake and the surprising pattern in front of him. |

Burrr. I like the shutter speed for the flowing water and static foreground; the textures of flow, mist and frozen rocks. The noise doesn't bother me. Thank you, Gunter, for sharing this beautiful image so I didn't need to go out in the freezing cold and wind to enjoy it myself. |

Love the detail of the center structures and the delicate veining of the petals. Also the complementary colors and the filtered sunlight providing just enough shadow to give it depth. What was your f stop? The background is nicely out of focus. Lovely flower, well presented. |

Mysterious and serene. If I had panned and gotten this, I would have considered it unsuccessful and deleted it. But it's lovely with the bird at the power point and just the single line of shoreline in the background to vary the scene. Well captured. Well processed. |

This could have been titled, "What is This?"
I submitted it to club competitions as Creative. The judges couldn't figure out what it was but nonetheless liked it. So, no spoilers. I'll let you comment and figure it out, if you wish, then reveal at the end of the month.

How unusual. Almost surreal with the organic puzzle pieces in the foreground.
I like their golden glow and the heavy vignetting at the bottom. |
