You are too kind. Actually, I realized I should not have had the 2nd light on the right. I recently read one upper left is best in a somewhat lighted room. But it could be one in the upper or lower right I guess. I took the PSA class on still life but still new to it. |

Not sure about greatness, just novelty, but, thanks for the vote of confidence. I did a 1hr demonstration of the use of Gel with 12 Camera Club members (before our reg meeting started). So fun as I demoed and had all materials there for them to even paint 5x7 photos. They were amazed at the effect of the gel. Some had never painted anything before. Can't wait to see how oil paint fits in. |

The Herons are such graceful birds and their capture is so romantic. Equally, your brush strokes and background are flawless. I agree the Rookeries on the Florida coast are unbelievable in the Spring. One year we traveled there in January and then returned in April. It was the best time, as we saw the nesting and then the babies.
You need not worry about using older work as we all have this problem with finding time for our art. Friends in my Art Circle who are very accomplished, strive to paint daily if possible. I think this is why they are so accomplished. Lately, I have just made it a priority to do one painting a month and even then I don't always make it. |

My eye really enjoys your oil brush strokes and the composition of the artwork.
One thing I like to do when faced with a distraction like this bright sky that Cindy pointed out is to use the patch tool, clone tool, Healing Brush tool etc on the original and fill in the space. Then use your mixer brush to even things out a bit. After your original is edited, begin your painting. What I have found out is that when I use my handwork painting, it never looks the same.
By the way, you painted the pool beautifully. Painting out the large white area was a good decision. |

Pat, the techniques you used really opened up the shadows and gave us a clearer image of the Alligators. In terms of composition, I too suggest you may want to remove the tail in the upper right. I like the way your techniques separated the alligators from the background using tone and color. Congratulations on your creative adventures in the art world. |

Trey, Lovely color and soft texture with your long exposure. While attractive as a stand-alone image, this image could also be a perfect background for future artwork. Posted: 05/15/2023 11:20:42 |

Thank you Cindy. I appreciate your comment and now see the comparison. I am taking a local oil painting class and into the 2nd week. I loved the oil paint medium from MP class and wanted to know more. I have never worked in oil so this is a new adventure. Here is my second painting. I will go back over this with my instructor because it is also way too tight. |
