Your image looks like it belongs in a museum by some well-known modern artist. I love the tones you came up with and its impact with its simple composition. Very Clever. |

Good for you for trying the mixer brush. Your orginal image appears to be a great painting in itself, and it might of been easier to use the original photograph. The brushes are key to good mixer-brush painting and your brush may be a bit too soft and smooth. In using this technique to me you have lost the impact of the wave spray surrounding him, and the motion of the wave, especially the crest. However, this is how you learn so don't give up. One thing that might help is to use your brush to put some white foam to bring back the ocean's movement and form and the spray around him. You can use a stipple technique on a layer over him to create the spray and them use a black brush to remove from some parts of him.
Keep it up. Doing Great. |

I enjoy your composition of the slight diagonal of the center rose and surrounding buds. Your colors and technique add to this image and says Modern Spring. Your choice to remove the distraction of leaves on the left was a good one. To my eye the right light pink rose grabbed my attention so in my visual feedback, I removed it. Just an idea. |

Your image has a familiar and warm feeling of a small-town holiday and really says America. The painting technique you used adds to the impact of the image with its bright colors and your choice to bring back the stars on the American flag, was a good choice. To my eye the sky is a bit of a distraction with the halo effect along the top trees. I took the healing brush and removed them. |

Cindy, I love this. Your title is so clever. That is the hardest task for me. Your use of the grass brush and background really enhance this image. YOur paint strokes are nicely done too with good shading and multiple colors. Your fly is fabulous. I am impressed you drew this and it really adds to the storytelling. Just as an idea, I moved the fly a bit closer, as it seemed to my eye the distance was too great. |
