Thank you Trey. Yes, I use strokes and borders even when the work is framed. As I said in Pat's reply, I have been involved in Professional Photographers of America for years and here the score in competition prints also includes the final presentation which means borders and strokes. It is something I just like to do. Here are the 12 elements that PPA for scoring and a great Mind Map of them. |

Thank you Pat. I am never sure about the stroke. It is a carry-over from PPA where the Presentation is scored as well as the image. |

Cindy, I enjoyed reading about your unique way to add a grunge feel to an image. You have turned this into a lovely piece of art. I like the textured appearance on the wild flowers and the nice blending of your white vignette into the original image. Because of your unique method, the overall appearance looks unique. Very clever. |

I support Cindy's compliment on the title.
I really think this painting tells a wonderful sport story and in someways your capture of just the legs makes it even a stronger and more unique image that could be a valued gift to any fond foot racer. Also, the slight angle adds to the interest and motion of the image. I also enjoy the sharpness of the front runner's legs and shoes and the slight blurring of the back runner's legs and shoes which adds depth and even more motion. Nice use of the many colors in your painting which make it even more attractive and painterly. Nicely done. |

Wonderful Pat for experimenting with the Mixer Brush. Putting a blank layer on top is the way I paint too. I like the way you used darker tones of paints at the top to tone down the brightness in the upper section. Hopefully, you will continue to play with the mixer brush. I have been using it for some time now and it is a handy tool for all post processing. If you can't find all the brushes you need sometimes just changing the size of the brush helps.
Here is one suggestion. Use the zoom to at least 300 and look at the strokes on the street and the side fence. It appears as if they have clone tracks . You should be able to smooth these out with your mixer brush.

Each person brings to art and especially abstract art a personal set of criteria to critique abstract art. Your abstract piece is interesting as a texture and the combination of warm and cool colors that developed from the software is a surprising outcome when looking at the original photograph. A gallery show of different bark images might produce an interesting show. |
