Martin, your eliminating the distracting background was done very well. If I had seen the possibility of that shot, I would have walked away thinking it wouldn't look natural. Good job there. The man is a great model, and the intensity of his eyes are looking right at ME. Changing him to monochrome puts him into another era. |

Your ability to put this shot together amazes me. That would be like my getting a horse's saddle in focus during the race while its head and tail are in motion. I look forward to seeing many shots from your culture. |

I can certainly understand your theme of showing "life and growth"--much like what I called Piers' "survival of the fittest." One of the biggest challenges in shooting groups of flowers is finding a central point to focus. Less is more! As in shooting your portraits, you concentrate on the face and not the surroundings. You have two "people" here, and I feel you need to choose just one for concentration as Jim has shown. Good study! |

A beautiful specimen, Karen, and you have done well in only limiting the color pallet to the two colors with the beautiful bokeh. My first reaction was like Jim's. Looks like blood vessels! A bit of a challenge to have everything in focus that would also have the important bokeh. Nice framing. |

The story of the survival of the fittest. Since we live in the woods, at night I often hear the squeals of some animal being destined for a meal. You were lucky to be able to catch this in action. I like the intensity of your second crop. Certainly tells a story! |

Jim, the more I look at your image, the more it catches me. The flow of the water has me going around the entire shell. I believe this would make a beautiful large print for a seaside home. My one suggestion would be to crop a little off the right side so that the flow of the image doesn't end so abrubtly. |
