Thanks, Stanley. I don's know why I didn't think about cropping some of that unnecessary sky. Makes it pop more. |

Stanley, welcome to our group. I feel you will give us so many different aspects of photography and tradition from your part of the world. The first thing that catches my eye in this shot is the color--very vibrant. The natural framing with the smoke adds so much, having us question if you added it. Thank you for pointing out who the bride and groom are. Now I am guessing who the others are--perhaps mother in the front and niece and nephew to add to the wedding party. A real story to tell! |

Karen, sometimes rules are meant to be broken. When you crop on the left, it eliminates the landscape effect and a good portion of that peninsula. I vote to keep it as is. I know you want to keep the haze in there and if you dehazed it some, you would lose the contrast with the peninsula. I would suggest playing with it some, though, and mask some areas to get more depth in the mountains and the sky. I did the river cruise 12 years ago and wish I could do it again! |

Piers, before seeing your original, I thought this was ice. I have no idea how to make a "negative." What program? There is so much to see in this image--the contrast of the "stems" in the center, the curved and contrasting lines of the roof, the steps. And I love that it took me a while to see that man on the catwalk. There may be different adjustments that can be made to please someone's eyes, but I think for your intent it's great! |

Wow--what a specimen--both your catch and the man! This is one that you can keep staring at as it draws you in. Perfect color and texture of his skin, nice contrast with the blue gloves, great bokeh to the background. To me it is perfect. Don't lose him! |

Thanks for reminding me that we don't have to travel to get some shots.
I love the simplicity of this wonderful piece of nature. Great bokeh for your background. Since your flower is all the way to the bottom edge, I feel that about half the space from the top should be cropped. It may be my eyes, but I am seeing a softness to the flower. I will leave these opinions to Karen, our flower expert. I'd love to see the print! |
