This looks too good to be true, and it's no wonder the judges asked for the original file. The background colors appear to have been painted to match the birds. A perfect set-up and crop. I would send this into the Audubon Society. |

Ditto to all the comments, but my poor eyes would never have noticed. Perhaps your monitors are larger than mine! Thanks for the lesson on reverse brushing because I frequently have the same issue. Beautiful bird! |

You have a real human interest story here. My first thought was that the original photo has some wonderful colors that would be so typical of the Indian culture. But you didn't ask us to give opinions on which we prefer. You must have had a reason to make it monochrome. To show his culture, I would crop just below the skull on his shirt and to the left of his feathers and leave just a little more above his head. You have many options here and hope you do well on the competition. |

Jim, I think you have the perfect elements for a Milky Way shot. I feel you can really make it pop by globally increasing the exposure, texture, and clarity. Also, since the black background of our web page blends with your sky, I suggest you make a fine line light border on your image to separate it from the background. Well done. |

Karen, I believe you did a great job of rescuing a disappointment to make it a nostalgic image. I think it would be a perfect Christmas card, with the Polar Express theme. The colors are welcoming, and I like the wacky way you edited the bottom left. I also think a train enthusiast would love this in his hobby room. Fun! |
