Piers, no it was not windy! It was just my lack of focusing on it to begin with since I don't believe I even noticed the tree. If I had used F/8, I would have had to make other adjustments--like ISO and seconds. These are the kind of shots that you wish you could go back to the next day. |

Thanks for your comments, Martin. The glow is from a nearby city--Texarkana (Arkansas-Texas)! Fortunately, it was not in the path of the Milky Way, and I think it helped to give another point of interest, especially by the tree (even though it wasn't sharp). |

Thanks for the general information. It was not my first time, but there are always a few years in between and have to start from scratch. I depend on another member to pick the place and date! |

Thanks, Karen, and so glad to have you back.
I do have some other shots that show airplane lights moving, and those are difficult to avoid. I really don't know what I'm doing out there except to keep changing the settings as it gets darker. Would love something better in the foreground, but this was the only choice at the location. We got home at 1:00 AM so can only do this when someone offers to drive! |

Thanks, Piers. Did you mean to step down to improve the one tree on the right or all of the foreground? I think the best way would have been to have layers, but layers scare me. Actually, when I was shooting, I don't remember whether I even noticed the one tree. If I had, perhaps I could have improved it. No, didn't notice any constellations, but I would probably only recognize Orion. |

You have a gift for finding interesting characters to shoot. I am going for a 180 on others' comments. I really like the original in color because, to me, it emphasizes his Italian heritage--as opposed to looking like a homeless man with an accordion. That probably doesn't make sense, but we so often go to the grungy feeling when shooting street scenes. I agree to tone down the face in the back and the "SUN" that looks too English. |

Karen, glad to see you back. I'm kind of late in jumping into this conversation, and at this point your beautiful original image is now dancing with perfection. Amazing what a few tweaks will do to the final image. Outstanding and hope you will print it. |

Piers, I was confused wondering whether the wrong image was posted as your final. Now that I read the comments I got the rest of the story. This second post tells the story, and I like the action. The thief's whole twisted body is a great "catch". Next time he needs to cooperate to show you his face! |

Jim, I love the circles of confusion and the appearance that the swings are going to run into the other ride. Also the lines of the ferris wheel and the lines of the swings give us so much to study. Beautiful composition and colors with the great sky replacement. When growing up in Chicago, River View was the amusement park--surely torn down many years ago. |

I love this, Kurtis, and the sharpness of the gold "wires." Since the website page has a black background, I wonder if this would show off better if you put a thin light border around the edges. |
