Jim, I intentionally left the perspective the way I posted, but here it is straightened. Which do you like better? |

Thanks for your comments, Martin. They are lights! Because Anthony Chapel is close to home, and I have photographed it many times, as well as everyone else in the area, I wanted to do something different. I felt this treatment also brought out more detail in the wood. I would like to have a wider lens to reach all the way to the ceiling. |

Jacqueline, I always look forward to spring when the hummers return. They are quite a challenge to me! I feel you have done a great job of keeping the image sharp while still showing the motion of his one wing. I get what Martin says about the halo and frequently have that problem with sharpening. My only suggestion for the image would be to change the contrast of the area to his lower right since I believe it becomes more dominant than the bird. I looked at your bio to see where you live--no bio yet! |

I love the Rembrandt feel that you accomplished with your editing and feel like it definitely looks like a painting. To help with the painting effect, I would suggest you soften or clone the brown (wood?) on the left--maybe extend that "backdrop" that is behind him. My eye is drawn to the brown at the top and would suggest you crop that beginning at the left edge. Quite a handsome dude! |

Jim, this is so inviting and makes me want to come view this with you. I feel your editing is excellent, especially how you highlighted the little waves. The lighter portion of left trunk draws me into the water and out to the lighter portion to the mountain. Because I feel the smaller branches in the center draw too much attention, I would suggest that you crop the branches maybe about to the fork of the upper tree. It may be just the rocks jutting out, but I feel there is a little tilt downward on the right side. Beautiful image! |
