Piers, the cropping certainly was a challenge, and I believe you did well on trimming the tree. I like how its straddled between two branches, and he's lucky you did not decide to trim one of those--or his tail! Your bokeh, I feel, is beautiful, soft colors that blend well with the bird with just enough contrast. Amazing that you could get the catch light at the distance. Nice! |

Brenda, such a special picture. I believe this is one of those impact images that are so difficult to capture. I do like the suggestions of more hair and hand showing, but making sure you have her complexion as lovely as your first edit. I love the roses cheeks and freckles. I think this would make a beautiful print for your family wall gallery! |

Welcome to our group, Cheryl. I love mushrooms, and I certainly agree that the large one looks like a hand. In my opinion you have placed it at the sweet spot for the main focal point with the upper right leaves having a nice contrast. The angle of the log leads me right into the image, and your editing on that, I think, has made it pop. My eyes want to momentarily stop at the leaves coming out of the crack, and I would suggest "pulling" that group out. I feel that the brush on the left side are a little distracting, and perhaps you can use software to blur them. I think that will give more emphasis to the mushroom, which deserves a big applause! |

Looks like you and everyone else was snapping away. I love this iconic shot and how you changed it to black and white. I feel your crop leaving only the upper half of the crowd accents the Taj well. My only suggest would be to darken the Taj just very slightly, perhaps by using the dehaze tool in Lightroom. Would love to see this in person. |

Hung, I feel that this is the best landscape image of yours that I have seen. In my opinion you have the right amount of water leading to the mountains, and the sky is beautiful with the clouds. The snow on the mountains, I think, form a nice contrast with the sky, and the dark lower section contrasts with the water. Beautiful, serene image. I love it. |

I have seen other posts from this scene, and everyone is a gloomy day. So be glad you didn't wait around for better light. I especially like the perspective you have with the bridge. I think those I have seen have zoomed in eliminating the bridge. In my opinion the castle would be more pronounced if you cropped about half of the marshy section--that is, if you don't mind turning it into a panorama. I feel that it takes my eyes too long to reach the castle having to go through all the marsh. If you are interested in adding a little color to the sky, I believe there are several software options. I tried using the graduated filter in a couple of directions in Lightroom and changed the temp and tint. I feel that gave it more depth. You may want to leave it the way you saw it which is so typical (I guess) of the area. |
