I believe the leading line of the railing with its reflection really makes the shot. In my opinion the fence (if that what it is) is confusing in the foreground and am not sure what I am looking at. I wonder if you pulled out some of the shadows, if it might give more definition to the image. If it were shot again, I feel it would be better to show the horizon of the water edge. |

I believe the bright yellow against the green really makes the image pop, along with the surprise of the purple flower. I like the line of the two closed blossoms leading to the larger ones, along with the by-the-way here are some more that balance the left side. Lovely. |

Thanks, Sharon. I did not have one from the same perspective when it was lighter. Something to think about if we ever go out there again. |

Thanks, Laurie. I had also tried to pull out the shadows when processing and found it just gave a cloudy look with no detail. |

Sometimes we just have to do something for fun, and I like your story. I know you don't have the information of how you edited this, but if you had done this in some kind of layer format, I would like to have seen the seagull masked and left sharp as in your original. But it was for fun, and I had to chuckle! |

P.S. to my description....The glow in the horizon is from the lights of Hot Springs, not sunset! |

Laurie, I like how you have the wheel cropped in the corner that leads me into the rest of the image to the mountain and beautiful clouds. To me the image appears to be very sharp all the way through and lovely calming colors for a summer day. My first glance did not catch all the detail of the different layers of the scene--love that. |

Hung, I like your composition that tells a story. I feel your contrasting colors of the pink, green, and yellow with the dark background really make this image pop. I would like to see the hot area of the flower toned down some and bring out the pink more. In my opinion, the green leaf adds nothing to the image, and I would suggest eliminating that. Nice story! |

Brenda, I bought a gerber in a little pot at the beginning of spring to practice what you just did. Unfortunately, I let it die before I ever took the first shot. I like the way the front section of the flower is basically in focus with it leading to a blur in the back section. Since the very bottom is not in focus, may I suggest that you crop the lower part off to begin the image at a point where it is sharp. I then think the viewer's eye would start there and and have an easy flow to the back section. Beautiful colors. |

Sharon, you know that I know absolutely nothing about infrared, but I wanted to comment on this image because of my having been to this lake many times when we lived in the area. In my opinion, you have captured this scene where you expect the Boggy Creek Monster to come popping out like nothing I have seen. I particularly love the way your pinks give the image so much dimension. I will be interested in seeing the other comments from those who have the knowledge of infrared. Well done, my friend! |

Jamie, welcome to PSA. So glad you joined. Amazing how the crop changes the image! I agree with Sean that the gradient tool will be useful in changing the exposure. You can learn how to do that Tuesday night!! |
