Thanks for all that, but we did use studio lights. See my description above. |

Piers, I love the s-cuve stance of the heron, poised for a ballet. The wing feathers, to me, make the image really pop with the definitive feathers. I do think that the bird blends in with the busy-ness of the background and feel perhaps adding contrast might separate it more. Other than that, beautiful shot. |

I have taken your suggestions. I originally was going to crop but didn't like the look. I have since learned that you shouldn't cut off a hand! What do you think? |

Using it for a nature competition gives a whole different set of rules! |

Hung, I think that you have done a great capture of the motion of the woman and the emphasis of how large this wall is. Although Malabika's crop is good in emphasizing the woman as the center of interest, I think it looses the historical value of the architecture, which obviously is ancient. The shot, to me, appears to be sharp with good diagonal lines. I would not change a thing because I feel you have captured a piece of history here. |

Another great bird shot with bad hair! Your detail, I think, is very sharp, great catch light, and bokeh. To my eye, the background could be softened some, but that's just a matter of taste. Nice shot. |

Malibika, this looks like something from a sci-fi movie that would look pretty scary on a big screen. I believe your monster is tack sharp, great detail on his body, good depth of field. Although it would mess up your ratio, I wonder how it would look to crop about half of the background to put more emphasis on him--scarier! Also, as long as you were not entering this in a nature competition, perhaps a little cloning of the grass might take away some of that distraction. You certainly do travel resulting in some interesting subjects. |

Al, I especially like the composition of your image that gives so much depth. I believe your shot is sharp with beautiful contrasting colors, nice lines, and framed so well with the tree. I think the sky might be over saturated, but then it does give it a more artistic look. Perhaps just tone down the upper section to the right of the tree. Beautiful image that I would like to personally see. |

:( My emoji of how disappointed I am that you are leaving the group. I've enjoyed getting to know you a little with our emails and the variety of your subjects. You'll have to let me know the group number when you get into another group.
This image certainly shows your ability to work with black & white. I believe the perspective makes it appear that the shells are floating. The natural curves of the nautilus, I think, are accented so well with the shadows. And I like the way the lower one disappears. Beautiful image. I hope that you enjoy your next group and that you are challenged! I look forward to seeing them. |
