Gary, I love this shot and the old-timey processing. Reminds me of the old photos of our generation with the boy in his cowboy suit. I like the close crop--just because it suits the mood. |

Piers, I am first trying not to look at other comments before making mine. Your original is an example of why we should not trash our photos before taking a good look at them. I believe your cropping is excellent bringing out that little fellow into a stage of his own. I always find it difficult to put that eye into the third position because it may not leave enough room in the front. I do see that Hung added more space to the front, but then the eye is no longer in the position you desired. Your saturation enhancement, I believe, resulted in a nice contrast to the Lesser. I am drawn to the reflection, especially the curved leg. I think the bokeh is enough to keep your eye on the Lesser but yet see his surroundings. Perhaps you can darken the hot spot of the wood in the upper section and lighten the dark strip in the upper right. Beautiful shot and processing! |

The surprise is the fisherman whom I did not see until I went through the pool of water. My eyes, of course, went right to that beautiful red tree, the reflection, and then out when I saw the surprise standing there. I feel this is a lovely image, with good contrasting colors and leading lines. I want to travel with you!! |

We have done many trips out to Arizona and always had the challenge of who would see the first saguaro. I believe you have captured this one so well displaying its majesty. I like the position of the cactus, slightly framed by the other greenery on each side, and the beauty of the sun peaking through the clouds. At first I thought that perhaps the shadows should be lightened up on the lower left, but then I thought the brighter green on the right helps to give a fading line of sunset and darker colors on the left. Nice capture! |

Hung, you not only do a fabulous job of catching dancers but also, in my opinion, have done beautifully in capturing the birds in their dance! I like the composition of the angle with the line following me from lower to upper. The center of interest where the two birds' heads meet appear to me to be sharp, and I believe I see catch light in their eyes. My only suggestion would be to tone down the brightness of the far right wing. Nice capture! |

I love the moon, and I feel it makes the image. You did an excellent job of replacing the sun for the moon and converting to B&W. I also like the positioning of the boat that draws my eye right to him, on thru the reflection, and into the moon. Beautiful! |
