Thanks. I did try each side separately, but I am standing on a walkway overlooking the spillway. The river spillway was just not wide enough to get much of an angle. |

I like this one! Just need to crop some off the lower edge. |

I had emailed you that we would be going to AL for Christmas, but it must have gone into your junk mail. Wanted your suggestions for photo opps. I knew there was some old fort nearby, and now I see it was where you went!! Too bad--would have been nice to meet you. |

Beautiful colors, Harry, and nice leading line to the bench. I think I would crop the bottom to the left corner of the first stone to give the impression that path continued behind you. I do believe the image needs more dimension, perhaps by just decreasing the exposure in some of the clusters of leaves. I would love to walk this path and sit for awhile. |

I love this image, Malabika. She immediately captures my attention because she is looking right at me. I'm assuming because of distance, she did not realize that you were taking the photograph, and I believe you did well with getting a sharp image, especially considering the distance. The contrasting colors, in my opinion, really set off the image, and I like the slight angle of your composition. I did notice the rope right away, but I did not consider it a distraction. I think it tells part of the story of where clothes probably normally hang. I do like the way Harry darkened a portion that I believe gives it more depth. The fabric in the upper right portion of her head could be considered a distraction, but I think it helps to give separation from the wood and the dark room. Wonderful shot! |

Thanks. I was wondering if it was too bright. Want to get it right because I plan on putting this into our print contest this spring. Appreciate your comments. |

Gary, I think this has a great abstract look, especially with the one leaf. It definitely has the look of broken glass, some kind of amazing physical action that I surely wouldn't understand. I think you made a wise decision placing that leaf there so that you could have something for my eye to run to. I do like how Harry saturated it.
We in Central Arkansas are having extremely cold weather, record 7 this morning, and a little snow. When we went to Orange Beach, AL, for Christmas, we were luck to have some pretty days before the weather got worse. Beautiful white beaches! |

Thank you, Hung. I don't get much opportunity for travel pictures but loved this place. |

Thank you, Gary,. Of course, on that trip, everything was in HDR after dropping my camera and getting it stuck on three shots. I usually do use HDR for scenery because I'm not good at judging the exposure; so at least I will have more to play with. I did use the single image HDR effect on one of my pictures previously and liked the effect.
Yes, I'm sure it is iced in. It was brutally windy and uncomfortable when we were there, and it was the end of the summer. |

Thank you, Harry. I just entered this into a digital contest for our club and did as you suggested removing the wide white band and using just a wider green on the outside. |

Harry, a wonderful depiction of that generation in Viet Nam, as I'm sure Hung would agree. I definitely feel you made the right choice in converting to B&W because I think it brings out the lines so much better. Love those wrinkles (as long as they're not on my face). And the toothless smile just gives her so much character. Yes, I agree that the little spot on hat is distracting--something you probably hadn't noticed until Gary said something. Also, I believe Hung did a great job in bringing out more definition to the image but depends on whether you like the softer touch. Beautiful image! |

Nice shot, Piers. Looks like it was done in a studio! I believe you did a terrific job with your Photoshop tool of inversion selection and blurring the background and good color. I have no idea how to begin to use that tool. The angle of his trunk leads me right into the image, stopping at the catch light and then on up through the high lighted section of his head. If I were cropping it, I don't think I would crop quite as tight on the right to leave more space to the right of his ear. Whichever way it is done, I feel it is a great shot. |
