I appreciate your comments, Gary. I intentionally wanted to do something grungy with the shot because the sky was so plain. I understand where you're coming from, though, and probably would not do another grungy lighthouse! |

Did you do any editing on your original image? If so, it would be nice if you would send to Harry so that he could post as "original". |

Hung, to me this is a very pleasing image. I like the thin white lines of the trunk in contrast to the oranges and browns of the foliage. The diagonal/curved pattern of the trees really draws me into the picture, especially with the brighter foliage in the right corner. Beautiful image. |

Birds in flight, I believe, is the most difficult subject to capture. I believe you have captured the wings at a beautiful position showing the grace of the goose, composed well as he enters the frame. Good catch light in his eye, but I wonder if the eye's exposure were increased some if it might pop more by separating the basic same color of his head. I know nothing about birding, but I would suggest that the feathers on the right wing would show more structure by increasing the exposure in the upper section and then sharpening the left wing, neck and head. I am sure Hung could show us how to do it. I look forward to seeing other comments. Beautiful specimen. |

I believe you have a well balanced image with the walkway in the lower one-third and the walkway dividing the two contrasting colors. I like how the steam brings me into the picture with the higher portion forming above the people high lighting them and then back out through the curve of the orange. This is a good human interest subject, in my opinion, especially with the position of each person's legs showing action. Nice capture. |

I wish I had some of those clouds on my trip to Michigan while shooting lighthouses! I love the dramatic colors of the mountains and the clouds and all the shadows. In my opinion, the bushes are fighting for too much attention. In covering them, I feel that my eye draws into the picture more smoothly and puts the attention where it needs to be. I believe you have three possible pictures depending on how it is cropped. One as you have it, another would be the emphasis of the dramatic clouds as you have them except cropping the bushes, another cropping some of the clouds to make it a panorama (also cropping the bushes) giving more emphasis to the mountains. I guess it's just how you like it best--the maker! A problem I have when editing with structure is getting a halo, which I see at the top of your mountains. In spite of all these comments, I believe it is an awesome picture. |

I believe they are waiting on their parents, who said they would be right back! I love the way the picture tells a story (at least one for us to complete). The diagonal lines of the steps draws me right into the picture, has me stop at the girls for a long time, and then leads me back out. And more diagonal lines of the girls' legs crossing, I feel makes a good composition. I like the color contrast and shadows of the building against the two girls, as well as the high lighting of the girls, who seem to be in sharp focus. I would love to see your original shot, and I will need to investigate the "multiply" function in Nik. Nice candid shot! My only suggestion would be to perhaps crop the top section of the building at the block line.

I believe you made a good decision, Harry, in converting the image to black and white and cropping. The EYES have it, and your processing helps to accent that so well. I like the contrasts of the different shades, especially the high light on his nose. You did well in creating a sharp photo, in my opinion, which is difficult to do at that focal length. |
