Hung, it is a Nikon AF-S Micro Nikkor 105mm 1:2.8
I bought mine new two years ago, but I see used ones online that are pretty low. Might be worth the gamble to get a used one.

Thanks, Malabika. With these comments I have to be careful to not get in a rut of subject matter of just doing flowers. I have one that I used the solarization filter and would like to know what you all would think of it. Might use it next month if I don't come up with something else. |

Thanks, Al. I will try to brighten to see how that looks. Did you mean the yellow flower or the bud?? |

Gary, I feel you caught the mood that you were after. The grass brings me into the image, especially with it having a deeper color. We have been learning about the golden spiral in our camera club, and I believe this image would fit it with your lines. I realize that you wanted the misty look, but I feel there is not enough contrast to make the image pop. I wonder if you increased structure/contrast/etc. in a few of the trees if it might add more dimension. |

Harry, what a lucky catch for you as well as the birds! I think your composition is right on with the birds looking like they posed for you. I feel the fluff of their feathers, great lines. My only suggestion would be to possibly clone in some prettier leaves at the bottom and the out-of-focus leaf on right front. The birds are so beautiful, though, that the leaves aren't too distracting to me because it's just the natural setting. |

Thank you. I'm having fun using the oil paint filter, which I'm sure some purists would not like. |

Malabika, I definitely agree that this lizard looks like it's ready for the race to begin with good positioning of his coming into the frame. I like the bokeh effect both above and below him with the grass that is in his path sharp that includes the tail. What a tail! The lizard itself, I think, is sharp and good texture and contrast to background. Beautiful creature! |

Al, those are one of those shots that you just have to take in spite of the fact that you know the background is not going to be the best. I like the positioning of the bird and his attention to you. I wonder if some of the busy-ness could just be toned down using a gradient tool, as well as toning down the bright spots. It might just be my eyes, but I believe the bird could also be sharpened. I feel it only needs to be cropped just a little off the bottom if you are able to soften the right side. |

Hung, I feel you have captured another beautiful one of the arts! I like the triangular shape of the the young woman's legs that lead me into the image, as well as the triangle of the man's legs. The capture of the shadows of the folds in his costume, I believe, show his motion. I am amazed that you can get such sharp photos and good exposure without flash and tripod. What is your ISO? Wonderful image! |
