Hi Melanie,
I'm feeling very tranquil and "outdoors" as I view this image. You've put IR to very good use here. My only concern is the magnitude of the lake in respect to the size of both background and foreground. I think a lower camera angle might have solved that issue for me. |

Hi Emil,
I've been here, and you've captured a solid rendering of the scene with very good processing in my view. |

Charles,
Excellent composition and subject, but I'm just not sure what IR does to enhance the scene. We normally think of volcanic eruption to be so dramatic in color, and I'm not finding that drama in this version. |

Hi Arik,
It's classic post-processing and effective composition...I wouldn't expect anyting less from you. I just find the tree frame, with the bright whiteness of the foliage due to IR, to be overwhelming for the size and scale of the chapel. |

Hi Jack,
Wow! This is a GREAT scene...classic composition and excellent inclusion of the elements (well, we can do without the rock!). You have given yourself and us a real challenge with post-processing. Am I remembering that you don't have Nik Color Efex or Silver Efex in your digital toolkit? If not, I highly recommend you add them both if you want to advance your skills with infrared, and color for that matter. My version doesn't look a great deal different than yours, but the Levels and Curves have all been adjusted, plus some spot lightening and darkening. Ansel Adams would have loved to have had a large, 4x5 negative, of this scene so he could do his magic in the chemical darkroom! |

Hi Henry,
Great scene with a lot of potential. The two major elements of the boat plus the sky make this rich for the use of IR. I have attached my 'adjusted' version. In my opinion, the image needs contrast and full adjustment of the Levels and Curves. I used Silver Efex from your original and then added a graduated neutral density filter from Color Efex. Tweaked the Levels and cropped it as almost square. See if you like the finished product from my post processing. |
