Thanks for the affirming comments, Arik. Yes, I don't know what special treatment IR has added to this, but I'm delighted with the quality of light, the tones and the contrasts. I can say it was an IR capture, regardless of what IR actually contributed! |

Thank you Jack. Given our frequently different views on contrast and boldness, I am sincerely pleased that this one hit the mark with you. As Henry has suggested, I think I'll print it! |

I wasn't planning to print it, Henry, until reading your kind and reinforcing words and those of other in our group. Thank you for the feedback. |

Thanks, Melanie...this was just 'there' in the spare bedroom, waiting for me to get my IR camera and capture it! |

Very kind and reinforcing words, Emil. Thank you. I hope I have developed the trait of 'seeing images' over the last 75 years of life just a wee bit better each year! |

Thank you Charles...I really like your still frame analogy to the classics of the 30's! Now that you mention it, it fits for me! |

Hi Henry,
For my eye, this is artful. Simple, high impact use of infrared. Well done, sir!

Hi Emil,
I'd love to go here! Magnificent scene that is well captured. Here's my version...adding Color Efex Pro Detail Extractor and Darken/Lighten Center. A smidg of contrast added in after those two filter. See what you think. |

Hi Palli,
Most interesting composition with a lot of impact from the pure whites and deep blacks. I like it. My only question is whether or not it is really sharp? Perhaps putting it through Topaz AI Sharpen would eliminate my questioning this? |

Hi Charles,
I really like the composition and simplicity of this one. Using the vignetting was masterful. The only suggestion is to look at it with a blue tone rather than the brown tone. To my eye, it's not a scene from the past but a scene from a cool, cloudy day. See what you think. |

Hi Jack!
Wonderful serendipity...a two lane road, an old Chevy station wagon, you a passenger and an IR capture! You know me...HAVE to have more contrast. I simply took this into Color Efex Pro and applied Detail Extractor at only 30%. I then selected the Chevy and applied Sharpen/Motion Blur to bring it back just a bit. Left in the foreground because it is so fundamental to the story of going down a two lane road and seeing this car coming toward you and quickly shooting through the windshield! |

Hi Arik,
Well seen! Looks like a 60's Hippie has returned to the scene...Asbury Park was a favorite of the flower children in the 60's. I struggled at first with the lack of sharpness, but the more I looked, the easier it became to accept this as part of street photography. Kudos for stepping out into another dimension of your IR photography! |

Melanie,
Indeed, what a vista and a stunning scene. IR gave you the wonderful foreground grasses in pure white. It has very strong visual impact in my opinion, but I go back and forth a great deal between foreground and background. Would a lower (or higher?) camera angle have helped to mitigate this back and forth? I'm sure you're looking for a good reason to go back to this idyllic place and shoot some more! |
