Hi Melanie,
You know me...I can't go half-way on infrared tonality unless it creates the mood. I love your composition and subject matter overall, but it just strikes me as having little or no visual impact as is. See the adjusted version in which I used Nik's Color Efex Pro "Midnight" preset to dramatically darken it and accentuate the blacks. I then dodged the center branches for detail. You now have sort of a 'black hole'! |

Hi Henry,
Moody, inviting and beautiful. It's just very, very well done. I have no constructive crits of it.

Hi Emil,
This place needs to be on my bucket list! I like the composition and can easily go with left or right. What troubled me was the tilting of the tower, so in my adjusted version, it's straightened. I also applied Detail Extractor and lighted up some of the darker areas to give a bit more detail. I agree, you want to keep it dark and moody, but you don't want it to go toward being a silhouette. See what you think of this version.

Hi Palli,
I am not attracted to the 'green'. I wonder why you chose to add color to the wonderful patterns and textures? This, to my eye, is a natural for Black & White. To that end, I applied the Ansel in the Valley filter from ON1 Black & White to this one and came up with the attached. What do you think?

Hi Jack,
Having been to Cuba myself (2018), I find this scene so classic "Cuba". I'm fine with the perspective and the slanting columns. This isn't an architectural image. What I would personally like is a bit for foreground/street. As is, the image comes across to me as a bit 'top heavy'. You know what I'd do to the contrast and the blacks overall, but frankly, here's a case for leaving them alone as you have done. It all works! |

Hi Arik,
What a mood! I love the composition. What's needed for me is a greater effect of the fog, and to that end, I have applied Graduated Fog from Nik Color Efex Pro. I also slightly darkened the foreground driftwood to give them a bit more dimension and texture...at least through my 'lens' on this famous beach. See what you think.
