I appreciate it, Jack. Just nice to be 'back' out there to photograph again post-the worst of covid. |

Hi Henry,
I loved it as it opened! Classic. See if you might like the adj version I did as well or better. I increased contrast and darkened the corners, plus added Detail Extractor. It could very well not be the mood and intent you were seeking? |

Hi Jack,
You've got all the elements...foreground, mid-ground and background. It's a classic rendering that is sharp and detailed. For my tastes, it's lacking contrast or a broader range of tonality for IR, knowing full well that's extremely difficult in snow! I do like Henry's version. |

Hi Emil,
Rad's a friend of mine and has done some fantastic things with the iPhones. This is no exception. I like it very much. As you know by now, I'm more of a higher contrast/pure whites kind of IR photographer, so I felt compelled to play with your image. See what you think...Detail Extractor applied to only there forested area, levels and curves adjusted for a bit more punch. Note I cropped out some of the foreground roadway. |

Hi Palli,
A most interesting subject well spotted by you! I wonder about the top portion of the tree, void of bark. The highlight of it takes my eye there first. I tried cloning (VERY crudely) in bark in the adj version attached. See what you think. Also, this looks a bit soft to me, so I applied Filter>Sharpen>Smart Sharpen>Lens Blur to give it some 'snap'...hopefully didn't go overboard. Again, have a look and let me know your thoughts. You've used IR very well in composing this one! |

The concept and the execution is spot on, Arik. The detail in the foreground tree and the overall depth you've maintained are very much appreciated.
I played with this to see if I could select the eve of the 'Abandoned Property' home to make it seem more 'abandoned'. My few attempts at this were futile if I didn't apply the techniques to the entire image. I just wish the house didn't look so good and was more ramshackle...does that make sense? |

Really enjoying and appreciating this one, Melanie! Well composed with great tones. The foreground really enhances the composition. I'm fine with your cloud treatment, but might I suggest you do a before/after on using Content Aware Fill for large 'slice' of bald sky between the trees on far right hand side. See which you prefer. You sure made the most of the Badlands trip from my perspective! |
