Hi Jack,
These are really enjoyable to photograph in IR. I like your rendition and have come to appreciate taking a different tact at brightness, darkness and contrast. The foreground blur doesn't bother me, but the lightness of the f/g cactus are a bit of a distraction to me. I applied NIK Darken/Lighten Center TWICE to this image to downplay the foreground and further blacken the sky. See what you think of another version. |

Hi Emil,
I like it very much and wouldn't change a thing. It sure speaks to me of Days Gone By... |

Greetings, Palli...
WELL SEEN. Design and pattern indeed, and images like this resonate with me. I'm attaching a gpadj version that seems to my eye to embolden the blacks and emphasize the lines and design dramatically. As you know, I much prefer bold contrasts for IR and perhaps overdo it in my own images. In any case, here's an alternative view of your image. By the way, I wanted to take the background out of play visually, so I selected the entire background and darkened it with a neutral density filter from ColorEfex. I also chose a black point on the floor with the Levels eye dropper to bring the blacks even further along. One last thing...again, personal choice, I see no need for sepia tone in this image since it's a modern structure...keeping it pure black and white seems best to me. |

Hi Charles,
Great camera angle and a wonderful story about this infamous tower building. I'm confused, however, about the sky. It seems you've lost a fair bit of cloud, even though you said you did little to it in post processing. I worked on the original to generate the attached version. For my eye, good as your image is at impact and technique, I thought this version a bit more ominous and sinister for the description you provided. See what you think. |

Hi Melanie...
I really like it a lot. What a fine presentation, and that leading line to infinity with those shadows if magical. You've just proven, once again, why it makes sense to photograph in IR during bright sunny days near mid-day. If I suggested anything at all, it might be to apply a bit of noise reduction. |

Wow Arik!
I simply love this for the visual impact and story-telling value. You have taken great pains in post-processing, and it shows! A common subject...yes...but done so artfully. Well seen to capture the pending storm. |
